Car sputters at 3500RMP to 4000RPM

Just got my new clutch and they fixed the squeak. All was done by the "dealer" (Parktown) for $900 plus tax. Such a huge difference, clutch is SO smooth now.

Problem is, now when i get between 3500 and 4000RPM (especially past 2nd gear) the car sputters as if its losing boost, or fuel. This never happened before I brought it in.

Now, obviously I'm just gonna bring the car back, but I just wanted to get ideas what what it may be/what may have happened and if you guys think I'm gonna end up owning.

Remember, the car IS certified.

Thanks,
Gant

Either way. Once it hits 3700RPM in sputters as it's trying to climb RPM,s. Feels totally solid before that. Seems like once the boost kicks in....

Just drove it again. It does it at around 3000 to 3200RPM in some gears. Sounds almost like it's back-firing. Does it mostly at WOT but will do it at lower throttle, too.

Drove around a turn in 2nd at hi RPM,s it sputtered bad, check engine light came on and said "drive to shop." Then the check engine light went back off after driving moderately about a half mile.

I agree it's plugs. Problem is, dealer will only install Beru's, at least they wouldn't let me BYOP.

What do different spark plugs give you, more reliability? Less misfires?

Edit: NM, finding what I need (search).

Plugs for sure if it sputters while you are boosting.

MAF if the cars sputters and does not go past 4500rpms (limp mode)

Was the car slipping when it went in for the clutch? If it was slipping it may have just been that the motor was not getting as much load with the slipping clutch and once it could hold that load it showed it ugly head.

It makes me think it is the plugs as this is common for cars going to into boost to sputter when they have bad plugs.

Well that is a bit strange then. Do you have any fault codes?
