Question Why is Upsolute 1/2 the $Cost???

Installed Fabspeed Gen3, diverters, K&N, new plugs (k16s)...

I'm ready to commit but why is there such a huge price gap between

Upsolute-$700 any some of the others
GIAC-$1600(Imagine) $2000(Sharkwerks)
Softronic-$1549
FVD-$1595

Are there any drawbacks to the Upsolute flash?
I'd prefer not to waste $900 to $1300 on a good flash that maintains a safe A/F ratio.

I have had Upsolute for a while ,never had an issue ,with milltek exhaust ,the car dynoed 420hp/488tq@wheel on a mustang dyno, and A/F ratio chart was great ,the best bang for the buck IMO.

I have had 2 Upsolute flashes,1 for stock K16 and a few months later another flash for K16/24.
Very happy about it,never any problems or cells, car drives perfekt...
And I even didn't have to pay for the update for going from stock K16 to 16/24.
We measured air fuel and at WOT it's always between 11.5/1 and 12.3/1
With stock K16 and europipe exhaust we dynod 505 hp at the crank
With K16/24 we dynod 566hp and 790NM at the crank.

Do you notice any turbo lag between k16 and k16/24 on Upsolute program? I am thinking about upgrading my turbo to K16/24.

K16/24 file is the same as X50/Turbo S file. The turbo flows almost identically with much better throttle response (less lag) and a very small HP deficit at redline presumably due to slightly more backpressure.

You're unlikely to feel the deficit as much as you will gain in tip-in response.

You get what you pay for...an "off the shelf" ECU tune that is better than stock. Now does it take into account the hardware on your car, they way you drive, the environment you drive in...NO.

I had it done last year, best bang for the buck

Had the car dyno'd at 447hp at the wheel and was told thats about 530hp at the crank. but you can defiantly tell a big difference.

I've been racing successfully with the stock Upsolute k16 program
for years with no problems. I have a Europipe II exhaust and an
S-Car-Go CF intake system, and upgraded DVs.

Maybe I just had a bad file but I picked up nothing in the 1/4 mile. I went in hotter weather with my GIAC Tune and I went a 11.8 @ 118mph with a bad clutch compared to my 12.0 @ 115mph with my upsolute. The 60fts were almost identical

Oh, and as to why it's cheaper, it's probably for two reasons:

1 - Upsolute is a big company in Europe, and has been doing this
sort of programming for many types of cars for a long time, so they
don't have as much recent investments to amortize with this product.
2 - They do the minimum in terms of convenience and porsche-specifics
to deliver the product. As far as I know you still have to remove the ECU
unit from your car and send it to them.

The U.S. based tuners, especially the long-time contributers here, are
much more Porsche-and-customer-adaptive. They provide programming
that can be done via the OBD-II port, and will personally involve themselves
in your other non-stock tuning options, etc. If you are going to be using
hybrid turbos or non-pump gas etc, you will get more established personalized
support from these U.S. folks. Very nice. If you're staying mostly stock and
want good stage II power, Upsolute will do it for you.

They are all "off the shelf" tuning IMO unless you actually pull your car on their dyno and they tune it right there ,Upsolute does custom map just like others as long as you submit the data on your car . I agree that UMW/Promotive/GIAC and few others are supposed to be more superior in Porsche tuning since thye have spent more time and generated more experience in the field .But hey ,I spent $700 and gave it a try ,the result is just as good as others with the same turbo in that dyno day ,and they have more "hardware" than I do ,I am on stock filter ,stock DV ,just chip and exhaust .
