997 GT3 wheels on a 996tt??

Will the 997 GT3 wheels fit on a 996tt? and do the offsets work? I know some fender work will probably be needed in the rear for the 12" width but will they sit flush with the fenders? any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You'll need the gt3-rs wheels with 7mm spacers in the rear . The standard gt3 wheel's offset is a bit to far off. You'd need a 15-20mm spacer to get it right in the rear. I have the rs's on my 01 996tt

Tommy.

Here are a few pics. I think the gt3 RS wheels look better anyway since they have more depth to them.

I would but those two are the only ones I had in my phone and the car is at power-tech getting a clutch and suspension done at the moment.

That looks awesome, thanks for the info. I think I want to do the same thing but in the gloss black. What suspension are you getting done? Think your going to have to roll your rear fender?

i have them on my car. do a search for my thread titled - my new shoes and you'll see some pics of them.

you were advised correctly. you need gt3rs rear wheels which are 19x12et51. Even with those you need to run a spacer. I ran a 5mm factory spacer. Just today i installed a 15mm spacer on the rears, although it may be to aggressive. I need to check it tomorrow....

hope that helps.

Cheers,
Boris

I'm getting the jic cross. I don't think I'll have to roll the fenders but we shall see.

Fly, I actually bought the wheels after seeing your car with them on.

Did you get any rubbing with the 5mm spacer?

Fly, you gotta post some pics from the straight rear with that huge wheel and the 15mm spacer, I am all about the aggressive look. I guess its best to try a 5mm or 7mm spacer and go from there. What size tires are you running on these wheels?

I got the Michellin PS2's, sizes as follows:

235/35/19
315/25/19
several people PM'ed me about the wheels - yes they are OE wheels. I bought them at the Porsche Dealer here (Carlsen Porsche). Hope that helps...

Haven't taken any pics yet. Will do that later today.

Cheers,
Boris

You can fix the offset with spacers so both GT3 and RS wheels will fit.
