Sorry to hear about your ticket. You need a lawyer, and probably not the kind you find in the yellow page advertisements. Where I live, we'd be talking jail time. "Speeding" in this decade is what "Drunk Driving" was in the eighties and nineties for legislatures - they are passing laws not so much for safety's sake, but for revenue and to please small lobbying groups.

I have some friends who have seen the north side of 175 MPH, but I cut it off at 124 MPH or the top of fourth gear.

My friend just purchased an LP640. White spyder with white brake calipers and a modified exhaust along with some other goodies. He is going to bring it to the Saturday car display in Irvine if it is not raining. It cost him $480,000.

Hey guys - I don't mean to sound paranoid but I was one of the guys who got busted in that malibu canyon-run sting last year, and it was pretty clear it was a set-up from the get go on this board....bottom line we really don't know who all is reading this stuff.

Things like this makes me think when I am doing a 100 plus....then again...it's a chance most of us make and we never know who is around the corner. if this happened in NJ you'd be in jail and your car would be impounded.

Funny how most accidents involving high performance cars are "solo accidents" on roads with minimal traffic. That indicates that most auto enthusiasts find empty roads to test the limits and only end up damaging themselve and/or their cars. On the contrary most deadly accidents are caused by the average motorist in average vehicles usually not paying attention, tailgating, and running red lights. Most pedestrian deaths are caused by older drivers that mistake the gas for the brake and they are rarely charge with vehicular manslaughter. Yet we continue to hand out driver's licenses to just about anyone and give them lifetime renewals without further testing. It's also true that law enforcement reads this board to set up traps for local driving and even "non" driving events.

LAWYER, LAWYER, LAWYER.........most traffic attorneys can work amazing things. If your license was previously clean you are ahead of the game. As bad as it sounds, light years better than a DUI........................Don't go to court unarmed, definitely get an experienced traffic attorney. You willnot lose your license........................................... .

Hard to say anything about going 120 on a public street. Maybe it was a limited access highway with no cars around. That's about the only place where it could be justified. Anywhere else and you're a hazard because you can't react fast enough to the unexpected - a car changing lanes, another one pulling out from a driveway or and intersecting street, etc.

Edit: Just read through the posts and see the OP was on a deserted highway. Should have had a radar detector. Oh well this thread is something like three years old now anyway...

Sorry about the ticket. My only advise for tickets is to never admit anything. In busy populated roads it is sometimes possible to get the ticket thrown out if you can note things like cars near you of similar body style or color at time of being pulled over. Don't count on it though. When they ask you "do you know why I pulled you over", always say "No sir". Always be polite and have your keys one the dash when they show up to the window. Your ticket will be difficult to be dismissed, but it can be reduced if you have a reasonable record. Remember, this is the capitalist law enforcement system. Good luck, and definately get a good attorney.
