I'm a former cop, and I'd have hauled you to jail on Christmas Eve or day, and would have hoped you'd get stuck in there over the weekend. One thing to do it on a less than crowded highway, but to do it on a holiday when the amount of families on the road is proportionately higher. I was stationed near Barstow once apart a time, and know that road to be begging for a high speed run, but I also know that road to have a TON of holiday traffic.
In fact, one year, heading home for Vegas so that I could go home on Christmas leave I became a first responder to a crash caused by an ******* trying to pass a bus. He was driving a souped Trans Am, and took out an entire family of German tourists, and ran the Greyhound off the road after it rear ended a car that got cut off by the *******. That rear ended car went up over the top of the front of the Greyhound and killed the driver when the car landed on its roof. When I got out of my vehicle, the first thing I saw was the empty skull of a baby, then that childs mother who thought that her back was hurt; but in reality she was holding her kidney in.
So, I have no empathy, or sympathy for you. I hope the judge gives it to you.

Sherman's fee was 5k. The rub is if your guilty its a 2 point ticket that stays on your record for over 7 years. Your insurance company will hose you, given the two points (in my case about $25k) so I had no choice but to try the case.
Sherman tried my case and developed a good record for an appeal if we lost at the trial court. Trial court found me guilty but allowed in evidence they shouldn't have and fined me $100.! We appealed and the judge said it was only a $100 why the appeal. (Judges hate to be overturned). The people (cops) have to provide responses to discovery within 30 days, as they're not use to dealing with real lawyers they screwed up with discovery responses. Court agreed to dismiss the case if I went to traffic school. Nothing on my record for the time being.
BTW, just got back from Germany in October and ran on the unlimited sections crusing at 130 mph that isn't as good as road as the 241 and 261. The difference is lane disipline. Good luck.

That's the thing... That crash chokeu2 talked about probably wouldn't have occured had the TransAm used proper lane changing and not been driving recklessly. "Speed doesn't kill - it's that stopping part that does it."
Like I said before, it's a shame we can't make it more difficult to drive here and make everyone drive safer (harder testing)- then we could have nice jogs of 100+ speeds with little or no worry.

I cannot disagree with you there bro. I didn't want to sound so harsh in my post, but after seeing sooooooo many people in bad *** cars acting irresponsibly, and without concern for others, choosing innappropriate times to open it up, I have a fairly short fuse. Hauling *** during the holidays is just not a good idea.

I was clocked at 148+mph once.
Result:
Arrested-in jail for about 8 hours.
60 hours community service. Easy since i do a lot of community service.
0$ fines
2 pts/3 year probation.
I learned my lesson. I use to hit 160 every day....now probably once a week and i'm ****less scared doing it. But i pick a safe, empty old road that no one uses anymore.
cliff notes: Lesson learned.... to some extent.
