Question Pilot Sport Rib ???

I searched and read everything I could find. It's clear what you guys think about the PS2 soft sidewall, but what about the Pilot Sport Rib? There doesn't seem to be much feedback about that.

Also, while we're on the subject, can someone please explain what the pros and cons are to moving to the 996 GT2-spec 235/40-18 and 315/30-18 tires?

Thanks!

My understanding is that the rib no longer is being maufactured, only the new PS2...I have them on my car and the GT2 specs work fine for me, the only bad part is rear tires in 315 are only limited to a few brands and they are all fairly expensive but it sure looks good

I read somewhere else on this board that the difference in rear diameters of the 315 cause the car to accelerate by 1.6% less. We all spend so much to improve acceleration. Besides looks, what are the gains in going to the 315? Just traction, right?

The Rib is not discontinued. Still being made. Rates pretty well. Of all the N-spec tires made it rates second below Conti Sport 2's. I sell them all the time given that Michelin only makes them in 285/18, not the PS2.

Damon, thanks for the reply!

Can you help me understand the pros and cons between the GT2 fitment and the stock TT fitment? Also, do you ship direct to dealers? I plan to get my work done at Stead in Walnut Creek. I'll pay more labor at the dealer because I trust them to not bang up my PCCBs.

GT2's have a 12" rear wheel
996TT's have a 11.5" rear wheel

If you put a 996TT fitment on a GT2 it will not fill the fenders of the GT2 as well
and not look quite right.
