Trailer possiblity/cost

I was thinking of renting a trailer to take my Turbo down south for some work. Is this at all possible? If it is how much to rent one for a week or so?

It has been a long time since I rented a car hauler, but it was about $35-50 per day. Only U-haul and Ryder at that time. U-hauls are heavy as lead. The light-hookup harness already exists on lots of SUVs. I ended up buying an open trailer for about $1300, new. They hold value well. The rental trailers have a mechanical brake usually, so you don't need a power wire and electric brake control. Of course you need a class-3 hitch. I think Ryder or equivalent will rent a truck-trailer package.
good luck

How many miles does it need to go?

If you are a member of the local Porsche club, many of the members have
trailers (from simple open to fancy closed). Maybe someone could
loan you one?
Otherwise it may be worth a call to FedExp Freight or someone similar
(they are a million threads on car transporters).

good luck,

MK

superchicken,

Can you offer the brand/where you bought it so I can do a search on this?

Thanks

My trailer, 15 years ago, came from "Trailersource" near Atlanta. I do not find them on-line, but this place popped up. http://www.trailersforless.com/

It is a light-duty trailer, pulls OK with Explorer-size SUV with V8, has electric brakes. I would guess similar designs are available across US. Also check classifieds in your region.

Thanks for the info. Car is so low like most I need to do some field testing with local manufactures.

CarNerd,
You need to go south and I need to go north-let's split the cost if a trailer

Lol! Ya my car is pretty low too (GT2 height). I was reading around and for the trailers i found it was recommended that you dont exceed 45 mph. And doing a 400 mile trip at 45 just isnt for me.

Takes practice and lots of wooden planks to load and unload low cars. Testarossa was pretty challenging. Then I saw group unloading a FXX enzo and realized how easy I had it.

Forgot to mention comfortable trailering speed for me is about 65 mph in interstate. It took a few miles to work up to that.
