k16/k26 upgrade questions

I am getting ready to upgrade turbos and was looking for input on which setup to go with. k24, k16/k24, or the k16/k26? I have access to the latter but need input on programming etc. I have the basic evo intake and europipe exhaust but i have held off on computer tuning till I can get turbos to go with the tuning. Thanks for any help

I guess that depends on what you want from the car, the K16/k24 is a good all around, spools fast and will give you more boost on the top end. To be honest I have not heard of the k16/k26 but that doesn't mean much. It depends if your close to a good shop that could custom tune your car, I have decided to go with a K24/k28 from FVD. The reason I went with this setup is simple, its proven to work and I can get all the support I need via the the cable and then a simple email.

From my personal experience, you can't go wrong with FVD...they are
a world-class tuner IMHO.

You definitely can't go wrong with the K16/24. It is a great all around turbo with awesome driveability. It has almost no lag and still pulls pretty hard up top. They are great for daily driven cars that see city driving.

what turbos do you have on your TT. K16s or K24s...
if you K24s just leave them. If you have k16s you can get them turned into k16/24s cheap. I have ZC k16/26s as well and they were great.
Usually you buy the turbos from the tuner that is supplying the ecu. However, there are many vendors that offer both custom and off the shelf programing...

If you go with the k16/k24 does anyone have a tune for the hybrid or do you just get the k16 upgrade tune?

I dont understand ur question.

BTW, not all coffee tastes the same... my point is that some tuners sell 3rd party software... some actually program in house...
they are NOt the same programs... they all have different sources therefore different coffee brand... LOL

I guess my question is that do you have to get a specific tune for the 16/24 hybrid or can you use the off the shelf upgrade tune for the stock k16 that everyone sells for 2k

waht do you want to do... keep the K16s... or buy used k24s or k16/26s???

the tuning for the K16/26s will be very hard to get... no one really has it... maybe UWM. K24 stock are common and most vendors have a decent ecu map for them.
U need to ask yourself what your goal is.. so later u dont start changing turbos again... it gets expensive fast....

I am not looking to go past the k24 or 16/24 upgrade...famous last words....so I guess it is coming down to those two options from what it sounds like. Is it just lag that is the only difference?

There is allot of great tuners on this board. I suggest you do some searches and see what others have to say. I am not trying to be a smart *** here but some education on this could prove invaluable to you and your wallet. Nothing wrong with asking questions and as you can see most will answer you pretty quick, but you need to know what you want from the car.

well it will cost u less to upgrade the k16s to 24s so that should be ur option.

When you pu on turbos like on my car is when you should ask the question about lag LOL
