Blew ANOTHER MAF! Options?

This is before I knew the PSM/ABS light was really the MAF conking out. This was with the stock filter and intake.
Garey: This was the subject on another forum...and guys were looking for the cause of the PSM/ABS light coming on for no apparent reason. I'm having this problem in my stock X50 that I clear by turning the ignition off then back on and everything seems fine. I usually see the PSM/ABS lights come on after a hard run...ambient temps today were 68F with several sustained runs over 90. This seems like a curious thing to happen just because of colder weather? There's certainly a lot of cold weather in Europe and I havent' heard of MAF problems there from cold weather. You'd think that this would be an engineering issue that Porshe would jump on. I will say though....that there have been a number of discussions about those lights coming on from no apparent reason.

I don't know why, but for some reason my car does not blow MAF's with the V-Flow. I purchased one of the first run of EVO V-Flows with the oiled filter. I ran it for two years, 30,000 miles, numerous 1/4 mile runs, northern New England cold fall weather (below freezing), rain, etc. with the stock MAF and never blew an MAF. Then a third year with the Hitachi MAF. Still no problems. I also drive the car spirited and will go WOT for 1st, 2nd and part of 3rd gear numerous times most days. I have always found it puzzling why so many have had repeated V-Flow problems, yet I drive my car more miles per year than most in a spirited manner and never had a problem...
Now, I am almost done installing the Potomotive air air intake kit, which does away with the V-flow, so my experience with V-Flow is over.

It seems that MAfs blow when the temps drop drastically.... so it is probably a combination of the maf and the ecu coding...
There are tuners that have upgraded mafs but that entails usually dropping everything you just did you your current build out.. and that is not economical. So the trick is to get the current tuner to stand behind the product and either come thru and make it right or at least help out some other way...
just my opinion,

Since everyone is using scientific data...
I have one Hi-perf Porsche friend in my town (GT2 owned by S-351):
He has V-flow, and I (with my special discount) buy him new MAF's so that
he can play.
I do not have V-flow and have never needed MAF, therefor
V-flow (although it makes mad power (MP), supports Bosche's Maf secondary market)

Sorry Marty, you left yourself open for that one!

While the correlation is not 100%, and there are certainly countless exceptions, the empirical data clearly suggests that the VFlow increases the likelihood of blowing a MAF. On the other hand, the objective data also establishes that the VFlow increases HP. I am informed that the Hitachi MAF is less susceptible to blowing.

I have the stock air cleaner and housing and my car is super fast. I do not buy into this mod and see no need for it. Just ask some of the other cars in O.C. I play around with. I would rather lose 5HP and have no MAF problems then falling to a BMW or.

I blew my mafs after pulling my K&N, cleaning it, and then re-oiling it... Bet I over oiled the thing when I put it back in the car... I plan to instal a paper filter this season and to buy a MAFS and put it in the tool box for when I'm at the track, just incase...
