Need some advice/help on CPO warranty!!!
#16
I had a similar problem on Friday. Cruising down the freeway, my check coolant light came on and I immediately pulled off the freeway. As soon as I got off, I noticed the temperature rising and coolant spraying out the front passenger side. Had it towed to BH Porsche thinking it was just a hose and probably under warranty (aftermarket extended). I called the warranty company and it turns out if it was the hose the warranty company would not warranty it. In any case, it appears I hit something...or rather something hit my radiator and damaged it. $1600. I guess I'll have to get my wife something less special for her valentine's gift.

I bought my CPO car at a 2nd rate dealer in Tacoma. The battery went dead after 3 weeks and they couldn't have cared less.

First call the receptionist and just ask for the GM's name. Ask to speak to him. You'll most likely get transfered to his voicemail first. If he doesn't respond, let me know. I'll call him and tell him what a terrible reputation he is building in the LA/OC Porsche market. I'm sure he'll listen to a fellow dealer. Next time, buy your Porsche from Newport Beach. We own that store and the guys there are first rate.

If I have know you earlier, i will definitely made my purchase somewhere else.

No updates today yet, but Newport beach Porsche said if I am willing to go with the $600 fix, it will be ready today.
But I am still reluctant to pay that much, still waiting for a response from PCNA and have to call Downtown LA Porsche GM.

2/12/08 2:40pm update
PCNA - they dealt with Newport Beach Porsche came up with 15% off the repair, which didn't do me much good as Robert already got me the same deal there before I contacted PCNA. The CSR said she is trying to run this case to her seniors, and waiting for a response from them.
Downtown LA Porsche - Called their GM, left a voicemail, haven't heard back from them yet.
Newport Beach Porsche - They are in the process of fixing the problem on my car.

With reference to the radiator hose...I asked the same question about why this wasnt' checked during the CPO inspection prior to authorizing CPO. I have to go along with what the gal told you....the radiator hose is up where you can't see it without taking out the wheel liner...although it does seem strange that both of us had a failure of the hose on the passenger side...almost like there's something rubbing in there. They told me it was a rupture that caused a 2 inch split....I guess this falls under the caption of "**** happens" because it doesn't appear to be a common failure.

Anyway, I will pick up my car tomorrow and pay out of pocket first. But I wont' give up for now at least, and see what I do from PCNA or the GM.

1. I don't read every post here, but I would say this is a common failure.
2. The definition of a 'wear and tear' part is one that does, by virtue of how it operates, gradually wear over time- AND MUST, ALMOST BY DEFINITION ULTIMATELY WEAR OUT. So radiiator hoses are 'wear items' with replacement intervals - like plugs and brakes? No.
3. To me, '**** happens' is the definition of a material failure- not a part that will always, by design, wear out.
4. One might reasonably expect that a CPO inspection to actually inspect all parts that are subject to wear. No matter how difficult to inspect. But they can't inspect the clutch for example.
Good luck

Hello (is it Edward or Edwin?) we had a little debate about this on Saturday after you were left behind . Anyways, I am sooo sorry to hear that this has happened to you. What a terrible way to get initiated to the Porsche 'club'. I sure hope to see you and your fixed car out there again soon!
sorry i don't have any insight on what you can do...if i were you, I would take Mike up on his offer to call the GM himself...that would probably work wonders. Good Luck!

Pay for the repair with a credit card and then dispute the charge. Once the car is fixed and the dealer gets paid, there is no way anybody is going to help you. If you dispute the charge, they don't get paid and then it is in their best interest to settle with you as quickly as possible.
Never mind. I forgot, you don't have a problem with Newport, you have a problem with DTLA. Too bad you didn't put the down payment on your credit card.
