K16 or K24 Headers

I think I already know the answer to this one but I figured I ask just to be safe.

The two headers are practically the same right? If I swapped out a set of K16's for a set of K24's, I wouldn't need to get new headers?

The stock Porsche headers are the same for X50 (k24) as for base (k16),
and they are a good piece. Several *excellent* tuners say they are
perfect for any motor until you want more than 600hp.

What you *do* need is a different program flashed into your ECU.

Joe is correct on this...if you'd like you could port/polish the stock header, but a "new" one is NOT necessary.

I asked the same question, and was told not to bother. They are the same headers.

The headers are the same....and the flange bolt patterns are the same as far as I know. The "porting" is the grinding at the exhaust valve end to remove some restriction left by the fabrication process. I have had this done and also had the stock headers extrude honed and ceramic coated on the exterior.

Having said that some of the new headers by the sponsors on this board will not hurt anything....and a true merge collector is likely to add some minimal horsepower at the top end.

any K-16 or K-24 will bolt up to the factory porsche headers or
"K16 or K24 headers" The bolt positions are the same.

"K24 Headers" is sort of a misnomer as it refers to headers that are designed for
the higher flow of K-24's. Any of them will work as far as fiitting and bolting up.
