personally i like the stock navi unit and its functions - it looks best stock... it may not have all the new features but i have a bluetooth headset which is perfect for me... all i need is an ipod connection and im set... shouldn't cost 1k though...

What I'd love is the ability to just have my MP3s and WMAs in the CD changer. That would do it for me... I've for an aftermarket GPS that works well, and I'm pretty pleased with the OEM stereo... I don't want to hack up the wiring harness on this car...

This is very disappointing. $1000 for ipod capability? It comes standard in a Scion for cryin' out loud. I had anticipated that this part would be under $200 and probably a DIY. If we weren't leasing our Cayenne, I would dump the whole factory stereo and go aftermarket. The stock nav system blows for what Porsche charges for it. My wife has to carry a second GPS because the factory one can't find the addresses at least 20 percent of the time.

I feel silly getting rid of a perfectly good factory nav unit, but I guess this makes the most sense.

I'd be interested in buying your Nav unit if you sell. Do you know if it is interchangable in an '07?

Yah the Porsche IPOD tax is pretty bad. I had IPOD installed on both a BMW and MBZ for about $500. Still no bargain, but half as much as Porsche. Although I'm not to keen on hacking up the factory wiring harness, after market seems to be the way to go.
