Spark Plug Replacement Question
#31
I did mine at 25k miles using Bosch FR6LDC. No issues. I plan to just keep using these. Beru's came out (from the factory) fwiw. No issues at all, from way cold to way hot.
Best of luck to all.
I went with these because Kevin at UMW suggested they would cause the least amount of trouble. That was enough for me. He said he's seen it all in terms of things.... First cheap thing on the car car too.....

Well, I did the spark plug install last night and it went fine. I have a few questions about it though:
1) I did not think to put any anti-sieze on the threads - Is that ok? The IC's are still off, so I can go back and put some on fairly easily if it's necessary...
2) The coil packs went on the plugs fine, but did not click at the end. In fact when fully seated, they were about 1/4" out from the motor, as if they were spring loaded. I could push them in, but they would spring back that 1/4" every time. They all behaved the same way and I tried each one several times to get a click, but not such thing...does this sound correct? I seated them fully with the screws at 7.5 lbs. torque.
3) Does anyone know which bank is Cyl 1,2,3 - passenger or drivers side?

Hi, on my 996 TT i'm running k24 turbos at 1,2 bar and still with Beru Spark plugs OEM.
What would you suggest, to stay with this configuration or to upgrade to another spark plug ?
And in this case, which spark plug is the best ?
Thank u guys
Bye

Hey Mark,
Sorry to bring this one from the dead, but are you talking about IK20s? I put them on as gapped .044 with stock boost and I'm having a hell of a time with missfires.

Part Number: PK20PR-P8
we gap them to .024 or even .028... I do not think them come at .044 from the factory...

I had the IK20s and put them in gapped from the factory - tons if misfires at WOT. I put the Bosch GT2 spec copper plugs in and they are fine. I am sure if you gap the IK20's properly, they would be good as well!

I got Denso IK20
They did say .044" on the box.

These guys recommend .035"
P.S. Most of my missfires were noticable at idle...go figure.
Also, after googling I see that other boosted forums recommend .67mm which should be around .025"

So I think I may be due for some coil packs and plugs based on some hesitations under heavy boost.
I just wanted to verify, are the 997tt coil packs actually better than the 996tt packs and completely interchangeable?
also, what plugs do you recommend for a car with just an exhaust and tune?
Thanks guys!
