They did my whole car and it has been pretty trouble free. It only has 4,000 miles and leads a pretty sheltered life though. The techs were helpful on the phone when I needed some ? answered.

they did all the work on my car and were great. I didn't shop around for pricing so I don't know whether or not they were high or low but the quality was excellent

I was the Private investigator for the fed incident if you're curious about that.
I'll tell you, though, that By Design has a really good selection and they make good deals if you bargain a little or make some friends. They are slightly overpriced on some items, though. My brother and I have dealt with them for years, so don't hesitate to ask any questions.

Slightly overpriced? They are more like "give us a blank check and bend over because we are going to have our way with you" priced.

I had them install the 640hp Race Gas Program for $14K. This was after I read here in a previous thread that Stephen (PorschePhD) had stated that $14K for this program was below cost. I did some checking on my own and found that this was a great price compared with what other tuners are charging. My car is perfect. They did amazing work and at a great price.

I had terriable expierence they had my car over a month. They didn't even take responsibility had to have the dealer fix it.

I would go to Speed Gallery, they take care of me now.

When I was doing my due diligence on By Design I remember reading your earlier posts. Wasn't your Stage 4 installed by By Design Service & Install which became and is now essentially Speed Gallery? I just had the Stage 4 installed by By Design and they did a superb job.

I am not sure what exactly is going here. Couple of points. By Design IS NOT a GIAC dealer and hasn't been for about 6 months. 14K is so below the cost it isn't funny. Father more IV GT is only kept in house by ImagineAuto and EVO. I talked to Todd this morning and neither he or I did a computer for them. So the question is this...what do you have in there? One way to tell if you have level IV GT and that is the turbos. Look at the center housing. If the center housing where the sump tank is and the oil line enters from the top. You are looking for a set of what appears to look like extra holes for the oil. They will be a pair of them. If you don't see anything like this at all you do not have the IV GT kit.

it is unfortunate that a shop like this that has come so far, be bashed. i think some of the poor customer service issues was due to growing pains, i have seen the same problems and bashing from one of LA's biggiest bike shop, Supergo. let's face the facts they were the most popular mail order guys in Excellence. i have had many mods done by them and have nothing bad to say, they have always tried to work things out as best they can with issues i have had. i figure rome wasn't built in a day. so some things just need some time. i think that there are lot of great shops in LA now that can cater to everyones individual needs. Like service, top techs, best pricing, product knowledge, availability of stock, no waiting, custom work, and excessive moding. everyshop has it's nitch. hope everyone finds theirs.

What about that one member (jcraimer I believe) and his problems with the 993 style hood... they sent him a broken one, and they refused to send a new one for a few weeks...
