R888's v. PS2's

What would you guys pick for street driving. I need something at least a 305 width in the rear. Looking for something with good dry and semi decent wet traction with good life (for this caliber tire at least).

R888's are R compounds, so you'll get even less out of them.

How are the other things, like wet traction, noise, comfort, etc...? Sound like a good tire.

I've heard they last a good amount longer than the RA'1s though. That's why i put them up there.

quieter than ps2
grip feels exactly the same
MUCH quieter than PS2

and they have a better tread wear rating
AND
you can rotate the tires side to side, which you cant do on the PS2

i was really skeptikal on buying them at first, but im glad i bought these, and i saved myself $1000

the sidewall does feel a bit stiffer though (which is what i want because of the roads we have in nyc.. better protection for the rims)

oh and wet traction, the toyo;s feel better than the Ps2...
im not sure if thats because of the tread design..
but they feel great

i got 235/35/19s in up front
and 315/25/19s in the rear

they are Y rated, which is good for 186MPH

you are comparing apples to oranges, ie R compound track tires which are DOT legal to regular high performance street tires.

need to decide what you actually want. NO R compound tire tread or not is going to be great in a full down pour.

PS2's are really one of the best tires for the street
R888's best tire to do some dry weather driving and mostly for driving too track events if you dont have a second set of wheels.
Hoosiers are best if car is just track driven and they really cant be driven on the street.

Believe or it not, i'm acutally trying to decide what i really want through this thread. I'm looking for a good dry weather street tire that has a decent life. I heard the R888's have a pretty good life and that's why i was between the two. There arent many tires out there in 18's that are 305 or larger. I dont ever see full down pours in the Turbo, just the occasional light shower so i just need something that wont kill me.

PS2's are WAAAYYYY Overpriced! yes, they are the best....10% better than the Toyo Tr 1's (for nearly double the price!!!)

I run the TR-1's on my M3 and G35...Michelin can go F*** themselves for what they charge!

On my GT2 I run Nitto NT 1's. Awesome dry weather tire.... R-compounds, hooks 640 rwhp from a 40 punch and are great on the track. Just don't use them in the rain or you will die: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...d.php?t=100033

Seriously, do NOT take R-compounds out if there is ANY chance of rain at all!

Thanks Doc, i'll definitely look into those, and I'll be sure to stay out of the wet. I guess an R-compound tire is out.
