low Pentosin or the Belt

My Alternator has just been replaced, common that the bearing inside can become worn and noisey or pulley's can be out of alignment. If pulley's you can buy belt spray or go old school and try and rub a piece of chalk on the side of belt when running, it will help you identify the problem.

I checked the fluid and it is very low. That might be the problem. I will get some and fill up and see if the noise goes away.

Ari, I understand a bit of Tagalog but originally from Australia. Have been here for 14 years and pretty well will stay here for along time. I have the Softronic flash and very happy with it. Know anywhere in SFO that I can get the Steer Oil reservoir for a good price? I will be in SFO on the 3rd of March for one day.

Where in SFO? I suggest purchasing it from Suncoast Motors and and have it shipped to the hotel that you're staying ... or I can hold if for you ...

Also, you considering taking the suspension with you as you fly back? or just having it shipped?

Just checked. It is definitely the Transmission Oil Reservoir. Filled the Oil up and dis the check again and it whistled. Is it safe to drive or should I change as soon as possible. Can anybody help me on when I can get a new one at a good price. During the first half of march, I will be in Philly, NYC, Pittsburgh, SFO and LA. Thanks in advance.

I need to buy the part and I will be in LA on the 13th of March. Do you know the best place to buy it?

What is "the 30 second test?" and what did you determine to be the problem? What part are you buying?

The 30 sec test is done by putting your foot on the accelarator for approx 30 secs and keepiing the revs between 3000 and 3500 rpm. Then let you foot off. If you hear a whining sound, it is most likely the power Steering Fluid reservoir

It was the Transmission Oil Reservoir. I replaced it and the noise / problem went away. It was all thanks to the guys on this board.

Thanks for that. Do you mean the reservoir for the Power Steering or the Transmission as in the gearbox?

Sorry, I am new to the forum and so cannot PM you. I have an exact problem as you described and want to diagnose it correctly, hopefully with your past experience.

Apologies. I was meant to say the Power Steer Fluid reservoir. It was a while back.

Thanks for helping me out here . Two last questions. Was the old one leaking, so you were low on fluid?

Was it a hard job to do or expensive at the shop?
