whining noise

Guys, wonder if you can help me on this. When the car is under 1500rpm, there is no noise. Above 1500 rpm and up to about 3500rpm approx, there is a high pitch whining noise. what could this be - belts, pulley?

It might be your wife/gf...don't let her ride with you and the whining will go away.

It's most likely the pulleys.

does it make the sound during idle while hot?

does it make the sound during idle on a cold start?

I love that answer but not the right one.

Just checked the car at cold start up and idling while hot. The sound is minimal at cold start up and when hot and idling there is no whining noise even if I rev up to 3000rpm. It only makes the sound when the car is moving and between 1500 - 3500rpm.

Transmission in Neutral and the Clutch Engaged, Pedel Out, the Throw Out Bearing does not have a load on it. Most Throw Out Bearing when they get dry or are failing the will make a whining noise. Sometimes you can hear the transmission whirling. If the Throw Out Bearing is making noise when the pedal depressed, then it most likley needs to be replaced. There is no adjustment...

From what I can remember, the noise happens when I am driving. Therefore I am in gear and clutch is not depressed. Hopefully not a problem with the pressure control valve in the steering oil reservoir. I bought the car in LA with a 2 year CPO and the car was shipped to the Philippines. If I have to buy the part, when can I get it from and how much?

Thanks. I saw the post on Rennlist. If it isn't this, would it be advisable to change anyway? What happens if it fails - engine bay fire??

The car is at stock height but I am looking at getting JICs and lowering a max of 1/2 and inch. No problems here as long as you park in the right place. Know of anywhere I can get the part in SFO?

Did the 30 sec test at 3500rpm and got the whining / Whistling noise for a second or two. Looks like I have found the problem. The car was bought with the 2 year CPO but I don't expect it to be replaced as I bought the car at Pacific Porsche in LA and the car is in the Philippines. I have asked them and got no reply. I need to buy the part and I will be in LA on the 13th of March. Do you know the best place to buy it?
