Rough Shifting (6spd)

My transmission feels rough. My car has 30k miles and it doesn't feel smooth to shift. Do you think I need to change my transmission fluid? Also what brand do you guys recommend?

WHAT is infamous around these parts
I have the same issue. I asked the dealer to change my transmission fluid a few months back and the SA insisted I'd just be wasting my money.

It might be attributable to the cold snap we've been having. Wait until things get warmer and see if you still feel that the car is shifting rough.

Could be syncro's... an old temp solution back in the day was swepco tranny oil. Its a much thicker substance that helped ease engagement.

I would like to try this as mine is hard to shift into first when cold.
After warm up it shifts great.

I had the same problem with my 993 and i found a solution. A lot of people put Mobil 75w-90 Gear Lube thinking that is the factory spec. There is only one place in the USA that i'm able to find the real formulated for Porsche Mobil Delvac 75W-90 gear lube (dealer aside).

Prior to using this specific Mobil Delvac product, i tried Redline, Swepco, regular Mobil 1 75W-90. Each of them had slightly different shifting characteristics - but none of them nearly as good as Mobil Delvac 75W-90 gear lube. It is also my understanding that the dealer sells the correct stuff for about $100/quart (talk about black gold).

In any case, this is the only place i found in the US and it is $42.50/gallon. Try this and report back. It transformed my 993!

Good Luck!

I don't have a short shift kit. When its cold its even worst. I had a 02 Turbo before with much higher miles and the shifting was much smoother. My car also seems to grind a lot too when I shift fast.
