front bumper lip
whats the best place to get a front bumper lip for a 996tt?
the black plastic piece under below the bumper,
i seem to have to replace it ever year, cause of my parking garage, no way not to scrape.

i haven't been able to locate an aftermarket front bumper lip made with the same material as the oem which provides flexibility. basically oem is the only real choice unless u want a fiberglass or cf version. my oem front lip is a little messed up from a stupid incident that will never happen again. i went to the dealer to pick one up... over $300, no thanks i'll keep my messed up lip. i have been looking for used ones, i could care less if its a little scraped underneath since u can't really see it anyway but seems to be hard to find a good used one. i figured someone might have one from a bumper conversion. i'll keep my messed up lip until a techart front replaces the whole bumper

my car came with a C4s one... not sure if the cabs get the C4S lip standard - but its MUCH better then with my X50, my X50 lip was getting scraped up and down my driveway just on the bottom, but my cab lip... no scraps

I was going to buy one from Suncoast Porsche, but at 250 plus 60 for shipping, I decided to break out the Mouse Sander and clean mine up. One of the two holes had a broken lower piece so I cut both holes out at the same angle cuts and it looks fine to me. Just sand the little burs down and cut off any pieces hanging off with a razor blade. It will look fine.

Awesome idea TXGOLD,
a little getto, but sounds like its worthy of a try before busting out $300 for new piece.

FVD also makes one in a black flexible sort of rubberized plastic that takes the bumps and scrapes a bit better than my original. It has the two rectangular holes in each swide just like the factory one. It fit exactly with no effort and only uses the two philips screws on each end to secure it. It's also slightly narrower than the factory piece so it clears obstacles a bit better. Since it's obvious that you guys are balking at $200-300 for a replacement, you probably won't want this one since it runs $350....but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the factory aero one from Porsche.

My cab come with standard turbo lip, not c4s lip. But do not if X50 or 'S' makes the difference.

I don't know if it's the C4S one, but I sent them my car specs and they sent this one that fit the TT perfectly.....do you mean that the C4S version is narrower than the TT iteration? Since I have never taken the car over about 130, it probably wont make any difference insofar as aerodynamics is concerned. The one I have should provide enough down force to work in concert with the rear factory aero shoudln't it?
Soo;ar tp 996TT Dave's post, this new lip doesn't get bet to death every time I back out of the driveway or turn into a mini mall with the steeper dips. I didn't want another version that I'd be beating up every time I drove it.

You can kind of see the cutout holes in the first picture in this thread.

Front air dams
Here's some front air dams I found when looking around....This fellow has them made up in carbon fibre...When I asked him where they were made, he told me China, so I don't know how good the quality is...but they look kinda cool...and would go nicely with my dark blue TT. They look pretty much like the OEM ones.
