Tight, the problem is hooking up the tie down straps, there may just not be enough room to get in there and tie them down. Also the floor hooks may be in the wrong places for a 2 car deal. You also need to look at where the weight is positioned, as you will have one car crammed up front, most likely the trailer axels are not positioned for this. another point is GVW and the tires, most trailer companies use JUNK tires, and I am talking about Goodyear marathons when I say junk. Take 2 spares at least and 1 hub asy all made up. Hopefully its a triple axel deal and he put a set of mich XPS rib on there on 16 inch rims.
I've put 10's of thousands of miles on racecar trailers and you learn a few things along the way, best of luck.
Zo6 179 inches, 996 a little shorter, so you are at about 30 feet nose to tail, you need at least 1 foot in front, 1 foot in back and around 3 feet between to get in there and tie off so it probably wont work, a 34 foot box might do it '
The std featherlight 32' comes with 2x 5200 lb axels, so 10,400 max, trailed weighs about 4500 or so, + aprox 6600 for the cars = 11,100 + all your stuff = one bad trip...

Marty sounds like a tough fit , driving is a huge pita, I'm trailoring my car down to vir next weekend.
Btw when is this event, best bet is for you to take it on an open trailer, try and rent or borrow one from a shop, will save a headache of maxing out your buddies trailer.

Yea, I think you're screwed. I was checking on double trailers and found that in order to get the proper layout, you need to do pretty much what DerBoost is saying and lay the trailer out with 7500# axles (or heavier) and run something in the 38-40 ft. range.
We were contemplating upgrading to a larger trailer once we get the sons involved in the track day thing. So we've done a bit of homework on this subject. Until then, I'm just gonna keep what I have and only transport one headache to the track!

Hi Woodtster, Pull the tailer with your truck and put your beast in it. Then share the driving duties with ATOMIC Z. I wish the mile and TX2K8 were the same weekend then I would have made both.
Good luck rip it up and keep me posted!

The Trailer is a gooseneck and I can put 14,000lbs on my 3/4 ton duramax. The trailer weighs 5200 lbs , so I am not worried about the weight - we can put cars in face front, back or a combo of the two. I am worried about securing the cars properly. There are multiply tie downs installed and I can always add some. It is a tandem axle with brand new rubber on 16" rims

It's not the weight hauling capacity of the truck. It's the weight the axles of the trailer are rated at. What Derboost described in his first post is the exact problem. If you overload that trailer, you're gonna overheat the bearings on the axles and go thru some hardware, and potentially have an accident.

OK your goose neck has 2 x 7000 axels, you will be around 13,200 lbs in this rig, so you are a bit under the max, also given that your bearings have a 15% safety factor built in. Now the problem becomes the tires, 235/85-16 rated at 3024 per tire @55 mph (trailer tires are rated at 55, not 75) your total cap is 12168 lbs. and you are again over. This is why we run the XPS rib, they do not blow, period (steel sidewall, they are a tank). And they are a truck tire so 75+ is not a issue. Do your self a huge favor and just keep the goodyear (or nankang, carlile, cooper etc etc etc) as a spare and go get 4 of the XPS RIB, i'm not trying to make anyone spend $$$ BUT, I have done this all my life, those tires you get with a featherlight are CRAP. I have probably seen 50 of those things blow apart. And it really messes up your fenderwell. I tow at 85 and the Mich XPS are the stuff !!!!

DeraBoost,
Thank you for your honest opinion. Growing up my family owned a tire store
and we were MN largest Michelin distributor/retailer. We always recommended
getting rid of factory tires on most everything (MotorHomes, trailers, boat trailers,
High Perf cars etc. The Michelin's NEVER had problems, it was almost uncanny!!!!
Sorry Eric, one or two cars you need new tires.

WOW -I am impressed how everyone here knows what brand of tires are on trailer without even looking at it. I do not believe in running crappy tires, especially when you consider the value of what I will be hauling. If the tires are not up to snuff I will swap them out.
As for the axles - they are 2 - 7000 lbs axles. With the 996tt and the Z06 plus the weight of the trailer I will be under 12,000 lbs. The bearings were just pulled and inspected and repacked.
I appreciate the responses and concern but..........Trust me I will not attempt this if I feel there is any danger of over-loading the trailer. The trailer was not bought to be a two car hauler. If that is what I wanted I would have bought a 1-ton dually and gotten a longer tri-axle trailer.
The last thing I would want to do is damage Woodtster's awesome 996TT or my own car.
