What to use for track wheels?
I'm looking for a wheel to mount R compound tires to for DE events. I want it to be light and inexpensive. It doesn't have to look good. What are people using on the 996tt?

Volk 18x8.5 and 18x11. Gunmetal, Silver, or we can powdercoat. $2600 ish. 1piece forged. front is about 17lbs and rear 19lbs.
Also check out BBS with the RG-R or RS-GT. I can get you more specs. But look here - http://www.bbs-usa.com/index.php?id=692
If you decide to upgrade your brakes to say the Brembo 6pot, the factorys do not fit. I am pretty sure that doing just the Porsche OEM 6pot will though. Many tires choices for 18's. Hoosier, Michelin Pilot Cups, Toyo RA1 and R888, Yokohama, Nitto NT01.

I used to use a stock rim set with Hoosiers (You can run 305 on the rear). I bought them on ebay. Worked great. When I sold the car I traded them into wheel enchancement in LA.
You should also change out your brake pads for some pagid black pads, takes 20 minutes to do all 4 wheels if you have the tools.

Stock wheels are like 22 lbs front and 26 lbs rear for the hollow spokes, you can get them for about 700 in good condition and even less if they are beat up.
Best bang for the buck.
After that it's CCW or Volks best for $.
Man, I didnt know the C14's were only $2600, might have to get me a set, they look pretty sexy on Al Norton's car.

Track Wheels
I got a great deal on some hollow spokes ($310 on EBay w/local pickup).
I had them powder coated in "Black Chrome" and shod with Michelin PSC's.
I haven't gotten to the track yet to see how they work.

Hello HeavyChevy
Heavy:
I'm not sure if we have met. I have done several DE's and races at Road Atlanta, but none with the TT. Most of my track cars have been BMW's.
I have done a few Porsche Club events in a silver E36 M3. Perhaps I saw you then. What type of Pcar do you have?

Artic Silver 996 TT.
I havent done a Peachstate PCA event as of yet, but I will. We've probably crossed paths as I'm always up there (live in 8 minutes away in chateau elan).
Check out our local site vmaxatl.com, there are a lot of us that track from the area.
About 4 of us are headed to VIR this weekend and another 5 or so are doing NASA at Road Atlanta this weekend.

I am using hollow spokes until I get good....light (relatively), easy to find replacements/fix AND strong as heck....take a licking if you will.
What the local DE gurus said to do.
FWIW. Best!
