1 month into my turbo ownership.. my experience. the good and the bad

Sorry you have so many haters up there. Down here I get the Hemi truck guys trying to run me but even they give the thumbs up when I blast by them. I live in the country so I don't have the neighbors to worry about. Like someone else already said "don't let the haters take you down". Keep your head up and the smile on your face and if the neighbors don't like it I am sure they can find somewhere else to live and sombody else to worry about. Glad you like your car.

Wow, I get 22 mpg,. maybe at the most. Must be NY, not nearly as much haters here in SoCal, well at least I haven't had nearly has many incidents as you in the 2+ years I have had mine.
My neighbors will make comments, about hearing me drive off at 5-6am on saturdays (Cars and Coffee or other meets), but nothing bad.
Well at least you are enjoying your car and that is what counts.

Here is what I have learned. When people ask you how much it was. Turn it into a joke. Say something like you won it at the casino or you put a quarter in a gumball machine and out popped a porsche. (You get the idea) after you don't answer their question they usually don't pry and keep asking.
Whenever you hear a comment let it slide. Chances are they are hopping into their 1986 Toyota with rust all over it.
When someone says "I have a friend with xxx that will smoke your car" Ask them which one they would REALLY rather be driving. Jealous people are just that, jealous.
One of the questions I hate the most is how much so and so costs. If you really want to know go online and find out. I find it very rude for someone to ask that question unless they are serious about buying one and are just inquiring.

Steve, you need to drive it more. Looking at the odo this morning, I realized I've put 10,000 miles on it since early Dec. I feel guilty about putting too many miles on it and I have 2 Cayenne's and a Hemi (kind of modded) in the drive. I keep telling myself I'm going to drive something other than the TT tomorrow. I just can't walk by it without getting in it and taking off.
I passed another old geezer yesterday with a 68 Camaro with 2 4BBLS. sticking out of the hood on a blower. I thought he was gonna embarrass me for a little bit. He gave me a big wave but didn't get on it. I expect that out of the hole, he would look like Mike Kelley's avatar but after 130 or so that car would be quite a handful.

Weird experience for you.. Even since building my G, M3 and so on years ago, when I was much younger people respected me and the car...
In my GT2? I get nothing but thumbs up, good nods and responses, shocks me to hear from people around my age, close to mid 20's getting "hated" on or tons of questions, again iv'e never had that issue!
Keep on enjoying it man, i'll probably never get to see it like you promised but its all good :P
And I can totally relate to this one
"out of those 8 people, 7 of them have a "friend who has a xxx that will smoke the porsche"."
I just laugh, shrug it off and why my car rarely gets driven on the street anymore, it becomes a hassle when people try and race you non stop, and it DOES happen here way too much/often in NY where everyone is out of Fast and the Furious!

THE BAD
Whenever i go to a cafe or lounge, there is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS someone who claims that i paid too much for the car, that it had paint work done, or that the miles were rolled back.
When i go to car washes, i hear peope make comments on how my parents must have bought me the car, or that im a spoiled kid....
People often DO NOT let me switch lanes on the highway, and im often tailgated by honda civics/ g35's etc...
out of 10 people that compliment the car, 8 of them immediately ask how much i paid for it, and if its a lease.
out of those 8 people, 7 of them have a "friend who has a xxx that will smoke the porsche".
ive already had someone hit my front bumper when parking (already repainted it), and on two occasions have found spit/gum on my windows ....
i dont know why, but when people strike up a conversation about the car, they assume it gets terrible gas mileage, and get very happy when they say "what are you gonna do when gas is $5/gallon ? you cant drive a car like this in NYC, they break down a lot, theyre always in the shop, etc etc"
Wow, thats pretty bad I didn't have close to that many things happen to me and I'm young (early 20's), my car looks flashy with body kit and I live in the city. I don't think its the car, maybe its an NYC thing. Come to think of it I did have one guy on a bicyle spit on my car and call me a "rich ****", but that was probably cause I nearly ran him over
