Just asking for your opinions on a coilover set up for my daily driver, and occasional track use.....Should I go with the new PSS10 setup or go with the JIC'S????By the way my car is 100% stock at this moment...Thanks for all your input!!!

 

Do a search. Lots of threads on this exact question. I went through this search within the last couple months, and I decided on the JIC through Vivid. I haven't bought them yet, but when I do then that is what I will get. I won't buy them from anyone else either. I think the guys from Vivid will stand behind the product based on numerous threads. Good luck with your search.

 

JIC's products are superior, but if you ever need customer service from JIC directly (ie warranty issue) its a crap shoot

 

I went with the JIC from Dan at Vivid and really like them. A huge improvement over the H&R coilovers IMO. The ride is pretty firm so not the best if you have live on some bad roads. But handling is AWESOME! Just remember to get a proper alignment and corner balance.

 

I just ordered the pss10's from Wheels Boutique and they should get to me in a week or two. I got feedback from alot of the 6ers here and b/c my 996tt is a daily driver with soon to be occasional track use everybody that chimed in said pss9's. I went with the 10's b/c I hear they should be a bit improved from the 9's. I'll post my thoughts after I get them on the car, allignment and corner balanced. GL.

 

Don't know much about the PSS10's but with the PSS9's the minimum drop was 1 - 1.25 inches which does not work for me. I needed a maximum of 0.5 inch drop and that is the first reason I went with the JIC Cross. Also I run the JIC's on my EVO IX MR and can only say great things about them. I go the JIC Cross for my 996TT fron Dan at Vivid and cannot be any happier. The service was excellent as usual, the after sales was excellecnt and the Coilovers are superb. You cannot go wrong for the price. Two thumbs up for the JIC Cross.

 

I think I am going to go with PSS10's. The price is quite good and I just have a hard time putting something made in Japan on my German made car.

 

You should take a look at the KW Variant 3. I just installed them. Really quality engineering, great handling.

another vote for JIC Cross and Vivid Racing.

I have no experience with the PSS10's so I can't comment on them. I do however have the JIC Cross for my 996 Turbo and I love it. It completely transformed the handling of this car....much tighter and sharper turn in's. Meanwhile, it's completely driveable on the street and in my opinion, isn't "harsh". I thought my SL55 was harsher when in sport mode.

if you are not going to track the car more than 1 or2 times a year either will be a tremendous improvement.

 

+1 if you dont track pretty regularly

OR

want to lower your car significantly


Just go with the PSS9.


But lowering and tracking both favor the JIC.

Do the PSS10s have the bump stop instability issues which plague the PSS9s when lowered? This was the primary reason I went with JICs.

 

Btw. a sportier version of PSS9 can be bought via FVD with their specs....That's a great suspension! (it can be lowered properly, no idea about the basic version)
I think that suspension was in the fastest car in one Turbo shootout and there are various Turbos driving under 8 minutes at the Nürburgring with it (one is in my avatar )

No experience about JIC here but another great option could be the KW var3 coilovers. KW is a race-proven company (with Porsches too) and var3 has at least a lot of adjustment possibilities with a good price...And you can get them in famous Manthey-specs from Manthey Motors.

Right now I'm leaning towards the JIC'S setup. However I will wait till more feedback on the PSS10 comes in. It is winter up here so there is no rush to make a descision......
