Running 110 leaded Fuel. Exhaust tips are white??

I filled my car with 110 leaded fuel for the first time yesterday. I have no cats and no mufflers (Stg 2 setup). I don't feel a difference from 91. I also don't have giac controller.

Anyways the gas smells chlorine and my tips are white colored. Like chalky. Is this normal?

Yes it is normal for the tips to be white with the leaded race gas. The problem is that C16 or leaded gas burns slower, unlike throwing in unleaded 100 or 109 race gas, the tuning is much different. The biggest thing is you need to have a map retuned for that.

I would run the high octane with a ECU tuning. You will feel a difference.

You actually may have lost power. When using race gas on a street gas tune, you need to add just enough octane so that the ECU no longer pulls any timing. Try 100-104 next time.

I did the same thing in my 993TT. Got the same white chalky residue on the inside of the tips.

FWIW, if you are running O2 sensors then you should probably stop using the leaded fuel. It killed my O2 sensors in less than 500 miles on my 993.

+1, you'll need to change the plugs too!

That is actually what it feels like. 100 unleaded feels much better for me.

here's mine. there is a 30-40 hp increase with high octane and the correct programing. without it you will see no improvement......

Is it safe on the plugs? That would be my only concern.

Most leaded gasoline's do that. Leaded gasoline has a lot more ash when it burns and that is part of why you get the white tips.

Most programs are very adaptive to octane changes. You should have had some increase I would imagine. Porsches have very good dynamic ignition controls and some increase should have been attained using the high octane gasoline. In our Softronic cars even on a 996tt with just basic mods and the flash the HP would increase by around 30-40 hp with just the addition of race gas.

Note: For those of you that run external wastegates and leaded fuel alot you may want to switch to the Tials that are meant just for leaded gas as you will destroy the diaphrams in the Tials you have now. Just an FYI.
