Spanked an M5 today
This guy was doing all kinds of burnouts and revving his engine. I ignored him for the longest time, but when he ended up next to me 5 minutes and 3 turns later, I just couldn't resist.
It wasn't a surprise that the lighter, more powerful car won, especially from a dead dig. The real surprise was that the M5 was some 4-5 lengths behind by the top of 2nd. That thing had no traction, it just spun the tires and by the time the driver went to modulate I had power shifted into second.
He said "no traction" as he went by.
Not bad for "only" 420 HP

M5 spanding was one of the first when I got my 05 TTS Cab. The M5 I spanked was modded (at least it had an exhaust). No wheel spin, but he was in front of me at the light and by the time we hit 80MPH, he was 3 car lengths behind.

Gentlemen I love both cars. Personally I prefer a normally aspirated motor in both my Porsche and BMW (E60 M5) as you may notice from my sig.
From the dig the M5 suffers from lack of torque but once you hook up and achieve speeds greater than 90 to 100 mph the M5 V10 shows its prowess.
From a rolling start, say 60 mph to 180 mph the M5 is tough to beat.
Granted my M5 is NOT stock but 997 TT's have been no problem.
A highly modded C6 Z06 Vette (with internal mods) was put down.
Our cars are all great and I love the competition. I love my GT3 and RS for the awesome track and road racing abilities and the E60 M5 for its screaming hi-revving V10 and linear power.
Cheers,

How do you get 581 WHP in an M5? It's gotta be FI right?

Hey guys love to step over to this side of the forum.
My E60 M5 has been tuned by Active Autowerke and ASR Engineering.

This is a run against a highly modded ZO6 Vette ( 1000 lbs less than the M5) running 60 to 180 mph.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipvCKxmXY60
This was a run with a modded 997 TT (Protomotive 700 hp). We do runs late night w/ radios and spotters on the turnpike.

The M5 has many mods for a total of 460 to 465 rwhp.
ASR Engineering is an awesome company. Abid (owner) has transformed my car w/ headers, pulley, throttle bodies, diff and software.
Now ASR has the best nitrous system designed in the planet for this car.
As a matter of fact, a 997 TT w/ a NOS set up is unreal but only if done by ASR.
In addition ASR is designing a TT system for the E60M5 which will have 3 stages. The stage I is only externals and good for 600 rwhp. The subsequent stages will achieve > 850 rwhp.
This stuff is exiting and can not wait for the components.
Thank you gentlemen for your attention

In addition to the mods done to yield dyno results of 460 to 465 rwhp the M5 also has a beautifully designed NOS system by ASR Engineering.
The M5 dyno'ed 581 rwhp with nitrous. This is an absolutely perfectly designed system. NEVER accept any other NOS system for your car.
The NOS I've seen for the 997 TT is out of this world.
