Question: why is my steering wheel shaking?

Hey fellas,

I have JIC Cross coilovers, rear control arm, anti-roll bars and new stock brakes. The car has been aligned recently. When I brake hard, my steering wheel shakes like crazy. The car doesn't pull in any direction under hard acceleration or braking. Everytime I come to a quick stop, the steering wheel shakes and vibrates. its driving me nuts. This can't be normal.
Thanks

Jack her up and give the front wheel/hub a little shake back and forth, I once found my steering ball joint had worked a few threads loose and caused the exact same issue. I know have all nuts/bolts painted.

if its shaking while ur are breaking only ,your rotors may warped .... were they looked at when u replaced your brakes ?

If your car shakes slighly under really hard braking you might be experiencing the ABS controller feedback as it acts like a stepper motor very quickly applying and unapplying your brakes quickly to avoid lockup.

Does the car pull in either direction or does the car step out in the back?

Rotors were turned I believe and new pads. My breaks are squeaking a bit as well. I never noticed it until the brakes were replaced. you are probably right. I'll have my guy check it out.

The car doesn't shake and it doesn't pull left or right. Its only the steering wheel and it shakes left/right extremely hard. I can let go of the wheel and brake in a completely straight line, but the wheel is shaking like crazy.

Sounds like bad rotors....I know some say you can turn them....but you shouldn't.

If it is under braking, then rotors. If it happens while not braking then it may be that your wheel/tire needs balancing.

strictly under braking, otherwise very smooth. Am I the only one who has constant minor failures after making the mods? I wish I would have just left her alone....well maybe a chip and exhaust And well, ****, if you're going to chip and exhaust, might as well do........... yup a disease without a cure. Thanks fellas
