Don't fool yourself. If you can't afford to break it and rebuild it, then don't play around with it. Producing 630-640 rwhp with a 996tt will take alot of maintence. Your longevity will also be greatly reduced. I've been recently learning about all the little things that will go wrong.
This 750 package is new to EVO and this is not a flame. They have come a long way since mid 2001. These motors are a continueous learning process.
Owning a 750 hp motor will never be a care free proposition.

CJV, Going fast costs money. I know that and have no problem paying the price of admission. That does not mean I will just throw the money away either. I am not a gear head and do not turn wrenches, nor do I want to. It does not interest me even a little bit. I just like to drive them. I have to trust the Tuners judgement in matters like this, but you guys are making me a bit nervous.
I do not want something that will be in the shop getting tweaked every few weeks and needs a live in mechanic. Todd told me this GT750 will not give me any problems ... I'll give Todd a call next week. Thanks for the input. I know you have a ton of blod, sweat and tears into your ride and I do value your opinion.
DAVE, EH' HOWZIT!!!

I am assuming, judging from the website, the 750 GT is running on 100 octane which means it is probably utilizing 1.3 to 1.4 bar boost. Even a 1.2 bar motor will have a somewhat shorter lift if you use in alot. Maybe 50-70K miles. The 1.4 bar motor will definitely have a shorter life. There is just too many unknowns. I am finding this out first hand.
I had the top motorsport guy at Porshe tell me the 996tt motor is great, however extend the power by 40-50% over stock and be prepared for trouble and a greatly reduced motor life. If the new GT2 has 480 hp, then 50% would be 720 hp.
If you constantly use 750 hp without beefing up the internals, you are definitely asking for trouble.

That makes perfect sense. The 750 program uses 100 octane. I doubt that I would use it very much at all. Shoot, this thing on pump gas should be damn near good enough. It's just good to know I have a little extra, for those special times.
If I get serious about this car I will look into doing some major motor work as well. I have shown a nasty habit of buying cars and spending some stupid money modifying them only to get bored and sell them cheap for a new project. I need to stop selling them and start a collection.
I think I have Automotive A.D.D.

NoMercy-
For 750hp, are they strengthening the engine internals or block at all? I assumed the rods would be upgraded for obvious reasons, but I didn't see a response to my earlier post....
WIth that much power, if the internals aren't upgraded I think your reliability could be significantly diminished.....
Let inquiring minds know.....

With that kind of power, high G forces start to come into play. The weak link becomes oil and the stock single pick up oil pump. Definitely time for a dual index GT3 or tri index GT1 oil pump.
