Aftermarket Warranty Vs CPO

When searching for a car with warranty, should I stick to a 996 that has a CPO, or is this something I can add later?

OR

Does it not really matter and applying a good aftermarket warranty should be fine?..

I know of a friend who has a good aftermarket warranty and they cover EVERYTHING, little stuff and all.. He paid around 2k for it, and hes already had over 4k in work done..

Seems to me from his experience, that a good aftermarket warranty company will cover and do more for you than a CPO from Porsche.

Any thoughts, and any good current aftermarket warranty companies come to mind?

The aftermarket warranty I have can be purchased after the factory warranty expires. It covers almost everything and will specifically say what it doesn't cover. I paid about 2700 for a 3 year policy and it has almost paid for itself just in labor.

I think one of the key benefits for people like us is that an aftermarket warranty will cover repairs even if it is not done at a porsche dealer. Meaning, my repairs are covered even though I bring my car to my tuner to do the repairs.

I have a Total Shield policy. If you need, here's the number: Brian (562) 458-8197

I had good luck with my aftermarket warranty, paid 2500 for it and they paid out over 6000 so far.

My aftermarket warranty has been great. I would purchase another again. I bring my car to my local mechanic for repairs. I'm happy to avoid the dealer. Never had good service with Porsche dealers.

They cover ONLY what is in writing....exactly as written. I have a good warranty...radio died 2 months after owning the car (3500, pcm1).....not covered unless I had bought the hi-tech package.....for 200 more dollars. Wish I had....

I went AVIC d3 and have a way better solution now....but free is always nice too.

how about people who had the 2nd gear pop issues and had the aftermarket warranties? would that be fully covered or would it be a half vs half bill? it's a 13k bill that's why and it's a dent in the wallet

i have had VERY good luck with mine, covered radio, ignition switch... Right now getting clutch accumulator (fingers crossed) got mine from Mercury. Also good because they dont see the car like a CPO so they dont see the mods cant deny the claim...
