Well with all the hoopla about the straight pipes I went ahead and did it. I was running the fabspeed gen 1 with 100 cell cats, called Joey at fabspeed and was informed that they no longer make the muffler bypass for the 100 cell. Well a few days later joey calls me back and informs me that they just recieved a "like new" used set of the old muffler bypass pipes back. And the price you could not beat. I really did not want to mess with any cel deal and leaving the 100 cell cats would not be a bad idea.
Well they arrived asap and on they went, took about 20 minutes at most. They also accept the factory tips, just take out the "inner" ring.
Well they sound is really quite amazing, I think the cats mellow it out a bit from fully open exhaust. It is really not a bad sound when just driving along,loud but no drone at all. And when the boost comes on, woo-hoo, sounds like a F1 car.......Cold start is interesting, it pops, burbles and sounds really weird until she warms up then its really nice.
No loss of power, boost comes up a bit faster,I can't tell yet if it shoots any flames out...lol... all in all I really like it......

I'm running the same setup.........I love it.

 

I have 200 CEL cats from the Gen 3 setup with muffler bypass pipes. You can't hear yourself think when it is below say 3000 RPM. I wonder what the difference is. It sounds like your setup has no drone.

 

Hard to say, but the gen1 was pretty loud to begin with,maybe i'm just used to the Db level, but the fab1 droned a LOT,just a nasty resonance that bugged me, and the no muffler sounds a lot better at crusing speeds...IMHO

 

How much louder than say ... EP2L is this??
