I planned to keep mine for a long long time. However, As I track more, and drive it on the street less, the question inevitably becomes "race car or street car". At some point the goal is to get into a race car and go wheel-to-wheel. I'm not sure that it makes a lot of sense to have a 550-600HP car and not use it on the track, so it may come down to keeping my TT or buying a race car and I'll have to make that call when the time comes.

This car is simply so amazing. When you have one well sorted, suspension and brake improvements, and properly upgraded in power/tuning, it's simply hard to believe the difference from stock. To me, the 996 Turbo is the affordable supercar platform that can be modified without breaking the bank.

I'd like to think I'll keep her forever, and if finances allow, I will... But who knows... Forever is a (hopefully) long time!

Thumbs up Keeping the 996TT

My eyes are always wandering, but I can not find something that
will take the Turbo's place. I agree with Dr Jitsu, I have a Poopra
and have had a lot of what the US car makers have to offer.
If I were to switch to an Italian, I would also have to redecorate and
buy a new wardrobe. The P car is for me "into infinity and beyond".

Based on taking two years to build this monster, I cannot imagine keeping it for less than two years. Maybe I will take the next step and go full race. We will see.

i never thought i would sell my supra but, after 180k miles, it's hard to get the car to feel good. you can replace everything, and i did, but it's hard to make it tight. once i bought the porsche, i never drove the supra and became disinterested. i sold it with 183k miles (it was a 98 too!)

so will i ever sell the porsche? two things will happen: a) i get a CGT and i don't kill myself or b) i drive this thing til it gets 120-150k miles on the clock. at that point, rather than trying to re-build it (mostly suspension, assuming motor is still good), i'd probably upgrade to another used 911 w/ 20k miles or so (i'm not willing to take the ridiculous depreciation of a brand new 911 turbo.)

but, for now, no matter what troubles i may encounter, i'm wedded to the car.

My 3rd 911 and the best...but wifey is suggesting a TTS cab. I'm not really a cab person, but I don't think I can deny the woman, now....

I always think i'm going to keep my cars, but as the mileage stacks up and little problems start leading to trips to the mechanic.....I tend to replace them with something new. I could see a 997tt or GT3 down the road or maybe whatever comes after the 997s.

I thought I would keep mine longer than it appears I will.......but I just seem to get bored after a couple of years......funny tho...not really an FCar fan.....can't justify the cost either....maybe a lambo....but I have to wonder where I will end up in a few years...almost ran out of dream cars to own......what will I drive then?

a long, long time
have been tracking the car after suspension, roll bar, ecu flash, brakes. Wanting to go WTW, and was wrestling with going full out with the TT. A sweet RSA just fell in my lap, damn near complete for what I want to do, so dilema over.
