TT Engine questions

I have heard that Porsche doesn't open up TT engines for internal work but just replaces them. Sounds a bit over the top to me but I had a cam replaced by the dealer under wty and they didn't do the "repalce engine job" I've heard about. On a totaltally different topic..... I was "ON IT" with another car and after a bit when I looked down the boost guage was topping out at .5 under all situations, anyone else ever have this happen??????????? The next time I drove it there was no problems.... 1.0 was available...........

maybe diverter valves are acting up. Won't be a motor issue
I don't think. For big problems, Porsche does swap out
engines or trannies. This is rather than have every shop
trying to overhaul them. They send the problem units back
to Germany and diagnose the problem, and rebuild them for
future swap-outs...

I am certain it went into safe mode for some reason. There is a list that will throw the throttle body closed and not allow full boost. Could be anything from knock control and bad gas to the cam not sending the right signal etc. If the situation goes away and doesn't return the car will go back to normal mode. It will do this without throwing codes unless it is staying constant.

A lot of dealers are now starting to go in the motors. It cost me about 1800.00 my cost in tools to do the job. Once past pistons and liners it is like any motor I have done since 1989. More or less
