2008 Season Opening track day PICS

The winter is finally over here in Finland and my club called Carfreaks had the first track event.

By the way, I have noticed that the cars attending to our private days have become more and more focused on track day use. (I have had this sickness for long )

Roll cages and racing seats etc. are more popular than before, just like having a different ‘daily driver’ in the garage for everyday use.

People are driving very fast - these are the fastest street car events in the country.

Many view having a registered track day toy is an easy and convenient solution compared to serious race cars. And driving on the street is sometimes fun as well!

However, there has been recently some interesting race car acquisitions and many are going back to real racing or starting that as a hobby.

Any questions ask me!

Here are some pics by my good friend Niko:

For a lot of high-res pics see http://carfreaks.net/photos/alastaro170408/

And I forgot one thing: The price levels of Finland does not support this kind of living...
- Stock 997 Turbo = 248,000 EUR = 390,176 USD...
- 98 or 100 octane gas is approx. 1,50 EUR / litre = 9,08 USD / gallon...
--> We must be huge fools to not move out of here.

Anyway keep on happy motoring! The next event will be at the Nürburging Nordschleife on May

I'm envious! Looks like a great time, and nice assortment of cars on the track. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys.

M3's and GT3's were really good in that track which is only 3 km long.

Even though the Turbo might be struggling in tight spots due its weight, especially as a modded it is a fast car on track as everybody knows. Power is always nice!

But the GT3 is perhaps more rewarding to drive and does not eat tires and brakes that badly. Hmm. Still I think I would miss that brutal power when accelerating in Nordschleife...Goes under 8min without a sweat
