Boost question....

My car is modded and normally I get 1.0-1.1 bar on average but randomly for the past few months i'll only hit like .7 bar. Is this most likely the wastegates sticking or is it something else? It wouldn't be the diverter valves leaking cause that would be low boost all the time right? If it is the wastegates, can the dealer fix this problem? Thx for any help.

disconnect the battery for a few minutes... reset the ECU....

otherwise you have a leak...

Are your wastegates stock? I had one of my wastegate rods snap and experienced a similar issue.

Yes my wastegates are stock. Like I said, it's maybe 2 out of 10 times when I get on it I only hit .7 bar instead of 1.1. If there was a leak, wouldn't it occur all the time? Can the dealer find the leak? Thx

Stock diverter valves? If so SWITCH THEM. Also have the MAF voltage checked. But if the MAF was bad you would be in limp mode and make no boost. I say your diverter valves are leaking for your wastegate is stuck.

No my dv's aren't stock (I have Baileys Dv's), just my wastegates are stock. If my dv's were leaking wouldn't the boost loss be consistent?

what if sometimes they stick????? many of these diverter valves out there are junk and leak bad or stick cause of design. I could be wrong and it could be your wastegate too.

Thanks for the responses. Yea, I dunno, I've had the dv's for a couple years and this never happened before, but I guess they could be the culprit. Does the dealership find boost leaks for you or do you have to take it to another shop?
