am i missing something here? i realize the e55 is quick for a 4 door sedan, but is it really that supprising to have beaten one? if you were driving a cayanne turbo, then i would understand, but a super-modified twin turbo against a sedan...big whoop! lol.

Wasn't the best race ever, just worth posting because of the plate....
Also, do you realize the E55 runs the same 1/4 mile as a stock turbo?? I don't have a super modified...just have ECU and Race Pipes (no cats or mufflers)...
So actually...it is a good race...

Good shi-t Evan.

The last thing we need is the e55 weaving through traffic. I'd love to see his story "I worked a modded turbo."

Barev - what mods have you seen done on an E55 that increase its performance?

Headers, chip, and pulley add 120-140 rwhp to put it in the 550 rwhp range for about 8k.

More than enough to take your average turbo, even a chipped one.

For 8k you get a nice fabspeed, K24s and the proper programming. Then it´s all over once again. Besides, wouldn´t a different pulley affect daily drivability of the AMG 55?

Btw, the 8k budget still leaves you enough money to buy a Turbo S badge. Adds 50 RWHP!

Evan;

You may want to check with Brandon at www.kleemannusa.com before you go through with the Carlson Mods...I would say that Brandon can get you 600hp for about the same price with bigger brakes as well.

the real problem of the S55, SL55, E55 is the consistency in power --> performance.

The AMG people really did a marginal and crappie job with the IC system, and/or at the track and/or warm days and/or rush hours the performance is not the same. Believe me, the IC is locate between the block and the SC like a sandwich and even more is a water cooled one that uses the same water of the radiator

I know that pulleys, headers, and ECU help, but you have to do something with the IC .....otherwise the ECU will pull back the ignition preventing detonation and the power will not be the same...our TURBO has a brilliant!! engine and that is what really matter

Further, I believe the 55 are awesome cars but even AMG has admitted that is not the way to go......coming soon the E63 a new technology, big V8, 32 valves, Vtech, direct injected, ...with no SC.

The main reason is our house that we have been building is delayed big time (like going to be like 7-8 months late ) and we only have a 2 car garage in our rental house... This forced us to leave the Lambo in storage.
My dad says he liked it, but it was nothing special...I completely agree...

I'll verify the speed of the E55. I raced a stock turbo for a mile and we were dead even the whole way. I believe my modded turbo is a little faster, but not by much. I have NOT noticed any power loss in the heat or in traffic with the E55. The sucker just PULLS.
