just curious what the differences are ...
ive watched a few videos and notice that 997tts are able to launch MUCH harder than 996 tt's

Bump to this thread...

I am very curious to know how the 996tt AWD system handles in the snow, say in comparison to my 2010 TL SH-AWD 6MT (which handles very well in the snow and on inclines with my current all seasons PS/2). Any takers?

The 996 has the weak viscous coupling and the 997 diff's are electronic. I haven't figured anymore than that out...
i have heard that if you have a aftermarket stand alone, you can put a 997 diff in a 996...

My guess is the 997 also has a LSD rear diff, but I don't know this to be a fact.

I believe it is a option on the 997 so not all of them have the LSD in the rear.

In my experience, the 996TT is amazing in snows. Drove it four winters with good Dunlop tires. Unstoppable.

the 996tt awd system does not work. when i say it does not work ,i mean it literally.
it physically, visually, literally, hypothetically, philosophically, and metaphorically DOES NOT WORK. it WILL NOT engage the front wheels 99% of the time.. even when you would expect it to (on ice, snow etc).

the 997 awd is electronic.

driving a 996 turbo with AWD is like eating genetically modified food and thinking its good for you.

once again. i repeat, as i have in every post that this has been a topic of.. the 996 awd system does not work. it is a negative. remove it and you will not regret it. i promise you all.

the only time it will work (and thats assuming its not already worn out, which is probably is) if youre on a track.
i wish there was a way to get a camera under there somehow so you guys would really see that i (and other memebers) are not kidding when we say it does not work or engage under most driving conditions..

i drove on winters too. in fact the car is still on winters... and when i say winters.. i mean winters...

rwd only.. no abs or psm. just snow tires and a rear mounted motor. more than enough..

this is the farm i go to for raw goatmilk.. roads are barely paved.
no problem

Devils advocate: Do the people who say it doesn't work at all know for sure that their viscous coupling is functioning as it should?

I say this as someone who is seriously considering doing the RWD conversion.

I am very quickly coming to this conclusion!

Is there anyone that can testify about taking the AWD out and the car still reacts coming to forward wheels spin about the same?

Thanks

Bobby Ali
