2003-2004 Mustang Cobra Vert. With about 2K in performance mods you will dust a stock TT in a strait line(with 5-6K in mods you will dust a modded TT)...with another 2K in suspension it will be a whole new animal. I have never been in a TT, but I have been in a coilovered Cobra and I would imagine that a coilovered cobra handles similar to a TT...like on rails.

Get yourself ones of those oldschool K Car convertibles. And with the extra cash get a set of spinners and a air bag suspension!

Get a left over new '03 S2000. You should be able to pick one up for somewhere around $27K. I think there is a red one on ebay currently. Great car! In fact, I just did something similar myself and got a silver '03.

Here is my choice, but I have a little more money in it. You could easily get one for your range though.

I'd consider the 350Z Cabrio!

Advanteges:
9000 RPM red line
Cheaper
A little more raw

Disadvanteges:
The '04 has more tourqe and a slightly better interior
The reason why they went from 9000 RPM to 8000 RPM was because there were some reliability issues with having such a high red-line... so you might expect some problems on the pre '04s if you drive it hard for extended periods of time...

Actually the red line dropped due to the increase in stroke. That is how they made the car 2.2 liter instead of 2.0. The entire powerband was set lower.

But really, I'd say just go test drive the S2000, Z4, and a 350Z and pick the one you enjoy the most. 350Z is a nice car but I've never driven the other two.
No crossfire, I already has two SLKs.

Z4 I can't get used to and it is too pricey.

350Z nice but looks horrible with the top up. The car does not excite me.

I would never own a Mustang. Definitely not for me.

Hopefully I beat Dr Bill to this suggestion: SPIT-fire (Laughs!)
But seriously, for a few bucks more you could have an Elise and his is for sale and coming in a month or 2.
