Aren't deer cute? [Not]

So, driving last night, taking it easy, 60 or so on a slight turn... listening to tunes, headed to pick up my daughter.

****DEER****. looks up at the lights, startled, at the side of road.... I start moving to the center, off the accelerator.... Trouble- the stupid POS bolts.

Evasive action to the left, car gets a bit sideways, but I run out if road and cannot move any further away... deer hits me on the passenger side door- good solid 'thunk'.

I'm now headed towards the bushes/trees on the opposite side, swing back, sideways again, impressively so, countersteer and back to my lane.

GD, MF, GD,MF,... [and on and on... undies check...]

Stop. Deer is dying. Must have got under the rear wheel too. Innerds out. nothing to do...

Door scratched, not dented. intercoooler intake mangled, trim gone. Fender around the IC intake is dented, perhaps 1/4 to 1/2" depressed.

Yes, repaint door, fender etc. Some body work.
I am not an 'original paint nut', but demand perfection in repairs. I've done my own work years ago, I can do a pretty good clearcoat refurbish, discriminating eye.

WHAT SHOULD I BE LOOKING FOR?

Do I need to have all glass removed to get the clearcoat to be perfect (rear glass, windshield, quarter)? What should be done to get as perfect a repair as possible.

What else?

Thanks!

Adam

PS Sacramento valley- any recommendations? Gamboas, Walt Stickel are on my list.

I am glad I don't have this sort of problem to deal with, around the area I live in.

holy crap. Last year in VA, I was leaving for work in my 8 liter suburban 2500. it's about 4:30 am and all of a sudden a deer crosses my path and makes it, and I let off the gas at 50 mph, as I sigh all I see next is a a wall of Deer which I am bowling over. I hit the rest of the family. Two adults a yearling and a baby all at once. 4 deer, made a mess out of the front of my truck, but if I had been in my car, I wuld have been in the hospital. Count yourself lucky.

Did you hit the bird at 130 mph? Wow. Looks like a scene from Pulp Fictions.

You're lucky to be alive. Deer have been known to take out as many drivers as cars. My BMW Sedan got a work-over from a rather large deer. Animal pretty much worked its way all along the driver's side of the car. Second occurrence was on the San Juan Islands around here and a "small" one darted out onto the road just in time to take out a turn signal and the deer deflected itself (thankfully) back into the bushes where it continued to run alongside my car (probably with a big headache) before stopping to look around.

We have deer like you wouldn't believe around my area. The county next to mine is the whitetail deer hunting capital of the world...some of the largest deer in the world are harvested here. I have learned that if you see one, stop immediately. Even if the one you see runs off, there are most likely 3 or 4 behind him. All year round the highways are scattered with dead deer, and during "rut season" it's unbelievable. If I'm traveling at night, I always take my truck, cuz I might get killed in the 996.
