Anyone here own a Prius?

Amazing discussion on this forum. I would think this would be the last place you would discuss saving a few bucks on gas.
If you drive 15K miles/yr and get 54 mpg instead of 14 mpg you would save $3172 ( 1071 gal - 278 gal at 4$/ gal). That hardly seems reasonable for most of you guys that spend 20K on upgrades just to go a little bit faster.
Who wants to drive a car that can't accelerate every day and looks like ...
If you want to be green, then I understand, otherwise it is illogical.

We have a Prius, put 40k miles on in the last 18 months, averaging 47mpg roughly. It's a great DD & has lots of room in the trunk. Definitely a good idea. The Yaris is probably a good idea too, 34-40mpg for $10-15k, hard to beat.

I'm getting 48-51 mpg on my 08 Prius. It is what it is. Like those blogs above me, it's perfect for driving mundane to work miles while more importantly not putting miles on my Rover & Turbo. I just have to tint the windows so my friends don't see me in it.

Scott probably just wants a car that his wife will ride with him in. One where there is not an indention of her head in the passenger seat head rest. One that the acceleration is so insanely terrible that he will be forced to go ultra slow. And he figures, he might as well be as comfortable and get as good gas mileage as possible while doing it. In fact the better the gas mileage the slower the acceleration generally is.

I just got back from Paris where the gas is 1.61/ liter. The traffic was horrible, nothing but stop and go. I would think this would be perfect for a hybrid. However, I was surprised to only see one hybrid, it was a Prius. Almost every car I saw was diesel. Also I was surprised to see only a handful of Japanese cars. That could be why I didn't see any hybrids lol.
