I had a problem where my 5-6 shift sporadically became
very stiff. Fortunately it occurred with the Porsche
mechanic driving it, one month before my warranty
ended, and I got a new tranny. Never heard what was
wrong.

The old fluid was nasty. I can't believe Porsche recommends a flush every 96000km.
Anyways 1-4 gears are hard to get into right now.
They don't grind though. No 2nd gear pop out either.
5 and 6 are smooth and easy to shift into. What could be wrong guys?
thanks in advance.

I'm actually going though the same thing, although I do get some grind on downshifts once in a while. It could be many things. I think I am looking at pulling the transmission for a refresh.

Did it start right after the oil change?

No, I flushed it because it was hard to shift.
It's still the same.. slightly better.. but still not as smooth as it should be.
how many km on your car?

About 49,000 Km.

Probably the brass syncros are going but I'm not the trans expert. From talking to people, I was told it could syncros, main bearings, shift fork wear.

You should also check out the clutch/slave/accumulator. Sometimes a problem there can feel like a transmission problem. I think it is worth having a competent shop check it out.

I had a similar issue with 3-2 downshifts grinding ( I have 45K miles)

A flush and oil change fixed it completely but... It took about 100 - 200 miles after the oil change. My mechanic said that the new oil has a detergent additive that takes a while to work.

Have you driven it 200 miles since the oil change?

Good Luck

I still can't figure out the problem.
It's hard going into the gears even with the engine off.
So it's tranny related but what could be the problem?
I'm gonna bring it to the shop this week but was hoping someone here can narrow it down for me. Thank you.
