Yes I have, since 1969. Reason I say it looks like a kit-car is because of the empty space around the dials. A kit-car usually have a flat instrument panel with cut-outs for the instruments.
The early Lotus Esprit is a perfect example of the kit-car look.

The old 911 on the other hand had big dials that fill up the panel. It was a distinct look that no other kit-car shares.

Btw, check out the pre-CF look that was so popular in the days

To each his own. I just prefer the clustered look of a modern instrument panel.
