6 speed vs tiptronic

Yeah, boost has never been a problem over here, we just tune and cool accordingly.
My 2000cc 4 cylinder Ford Escort RS Cosworth ran 500 BHP with 2.2 bar boost but huge IC's
So long as your CR, Fueling, IAT's EGT's and timing will allow theres no problem with boost just how much power the engine can handle ie built motor or not .
Most Jap cars over her are running 1.5 -2.0 bar boost to get good power.
My stock 6tt was the lowest boosting car I have ever owned.
When you get it wrong you just get a bigger BANG

That's all you got!! Yeh the computer is different. Nobody but mkb was doing these when Todd needed to get his done. Now there are a handful. I don't know whether a 997 computer can be used on 996, but I know the 996 can be remapped. Had one guy tell me it could be done to such an extent the shifts would be dragster like.
Again a built 996tip and 997tip is not much different at all. So your claim that a 996 tip is totally different is total BS.

Dragster like? If you like terrible jerking shifts then go for it! Have any of you all driven a fast automatic? Well how about a fast car period?
On my Camaro the shift (only 2 gears) was smooth but I did have a converter built by people that know what they are doing.
Everyone seems to forget (or probably really just don't know) that the converter is a BIG key factor on any automatic car.

You know there is more than just 1 part in a converter. I had mine changed 3 of 4 times by Neal Chance over its lifespan in my Camaro. Aren't all the Porsche ones all done the same anyway? Different setups will require different converters. Unheard of I know, but... **** if I were Pro Torque or Neal Chance I'd be in this industry get 1 car to do something then everyone else believes theres can too. The money would be good!

So how do you improve shifting speed on a Tip so that it doesn't sound like a turtle sh1tting?
On american auto trans, shift kits usually increase shift speed and TC's take the Torque and increase stall speeds. So you can in effect drop the clutch. If the mods to tips do this, then that is nice.

MKB also mod this part of the TCU's program as well.
Stall speed is set inside the TC by the use of valves, normally requires the TC being opened up . MKB also do this but you have to send your TC to them

you can have your valve body rebuilt as well. take a look at first link. IMHO it is the most informative tiptronic thread. and the second link is the cheapest complete build i know of. you might contact the OP to see how things are holding up.

hey guys, i drove a tip and the lag was horrible! cruising around, i floor it and it took at least a few seconds before the car pinned you back into the seat. is this normal? is there a fix for it?
i drove a manual with x50 package and there was no lag, but i think i prefer a tip.

The tip has a taller gear and coupled with cruising in low rpms feels like more lag. When you. Ail the gas you should be at least at 3000-3500 rpm. If u dont already have a free flowing exhaust get one. Definitely helps.
