VividRacing IC Piping Review.

Let me just say I'm a bit frustrated at this point.

I found the issue with the car was that it had a pretty bad boost leak.

Figured as much but I didn't have enough time to fiddle around with the car because of work and such.

I finally found time this weekend to take the car apart. And as everyone stated it was a leak in the IC pipes.

I ordered a set of IC pipes from Dan from Vivid and got a great deal for them.

Problem. The longer IC pipe on the passenger side going to the IC from the Intake manifold keeps popping off from the manifold side.. I tried to push it back in and put that U shaped clip back in but again, keeps popping off the intake manifold side when the car goes into boost.

Frustrated beyond belief (I put the car back together in hopes everything was running. Had to take the car apart once more to take the new IC pipes out and replaced them with my older OEM RUBBER hoses. Guess what, it works fine and I've isolated the issue to just that one IC Pipe.

I told Dan this and basically told me he needs a picture....

While I would have gladly done so if the car wasn't back together, it is. I'm not going to put the new defective pipe back into the car, take it for a drive so I can take a picture of the hose popping off and then swapping it back out with the OEM.

For those who have done this job before, the bumper needs to come off. I'm not going to keep swapping things back and forth while I cut up my hands and fiddle with the stupid clips so I can send a picture only to put my OEM back in.

This is probably the last time I'm going to be doing business with Dan with the way this was handled.

I have no issues sending the pipe back to Vivid to get a replacement but I think its a bit silly I have to pay for shipping to send back a defective pipe especially since I spent over $700+ to get them here.

Just thought everyone should know. The only good thing that came from this is that the car is running almost perfect. Just have to dial in the wastegates and I should be good. All thanks to the OEM pipes.

First the Boost Hose Kit you have is by Agency Power. Vivid Racing does not manufacture any products. I asked you so nicely to send me a picture of the hose where it was popping off so I could see and then send you out a replacement. What if the issue is not what I think it is. I have never had ANY issues with these hoses. So the problem is either that the clamp that holds the silicone to the CNC piece is not on right, or for some reason there is a fault in the product. 2nd of all NOBODY said you had to pay for anything. Now that you have basically told everyone my customer service sucks ( in which I sat on AOL IM and talked to you), here is the exact conversation we had today.

[13:12] EvolvedAZ: take a picture and email me
[13:12] EvolvedAZ: dan@vividracing.com
[13:12] lookitsma: take a picture of what?
[13:13] EvolvedAZ: where the hose popped off
[13:14] lookitsma: ....
[13:14] lookitsma: im telling you its the top passenger side
[13:15] lookitsma: not the short hose but the longer hoses
[13:15] lookitsma: on the passenger side
[13:15] EvolvedAZ: I need a picture of the hose popped off to see
[13:16] EvolvedAZ: dont pop it on, take a picture and email me so I can get it handled
[13:16] lookitsma: dan youre being difficult with me here
[13:16] lookitsma: i already popped in the OEM hose
[13:16] lookitsma: so I can take it for a drive to isolate it
[13:16] lookitsma: im not going to pop it back on
[13:16] lookitsma: a defective hose at that
[13:16] lookitsma: and boost the car
[13:17] lookitsma: to make it pop off
[13:17] lookitsma: so I can take a picture to send it to you
[13:17] EvolvedAZ: You can speak with me by phone.
[13:17] EvolvedAZ: thank you

So if you had called me like I asked 3 hours ago, a replacement would have been in the mail. But since I still dont know the exact issue, whether the picture is taken of the hose on or off the car, we have nothing but you venting out. If you want my help, like I said, contact me.

This is not a comment on Dan and his business, as I have been very happy with the products and service I have received from Vividracing. This is just a comment on the Agency Power hoses I got from Vividracing. While installing the hoses I noticed that the driver's side IC hose (the one from the top of the IC to the Y-pipe) didn't have the clamp that held the hose onto the CNC piece. I was lucky to spot the issue before putting the car back together again (I'm a bit **** about inspecting and comparing everything I change on my 996TT). I went to a local auto parts store and purchased a large enough clamp and fixed the problem myself. The only thing I don't like about the fix is that this hose looks different from the rest, but you can't see it because it is covered by the rear bumper piece. It sounds like you had the same issue with one of your hoses.

Phillip, just contact me so I can send a replacement out. Super easy. Either I can RMA the entire kit and find out what is wrong or I can get the picture from you and send you what you need to save you on time.

Valley996TT - no idea about this, if you want, same thing, send me a picture of which hose and I can send you a new one and RMA that one. Appreciate the support.

Seems like Dan/Vivid did nothing wrong and the buyer got pissed and jumped the gun IMO.

Whether I happen to agree or not agree with the vendor or manufacturer, it always pains me to see these issues played out in an open forum. I've always been an advocate of trying to work things out behind the scenes and giving the vendor a chance to resolve it himself....but you have to allow a reasonable amount of time for this to occur. Wanting immediate resolution is understandable, but you also have to take into consideration that there are a lot of folks out there who intentionally BS a vendor or manufacturer into freebies when the fault might lie with the buyer's own mistakes in installation or handling the product. I'm not saying that's what happened here...only that resolution is best handled one-on-one in as civil a manner as possible....then after a reasonable amount of time it can be taken to the court of public opinion for public "trial".

r34dy2walk,
Sorry to hear the problem you had with the hose.... WOW what a royal pain in the butt...
But I can imagine the same goes to Dan over at Vivid.. He didn't make the hose... He just happens to of sold you it. I'm in retail sales and trust me... PEOPLE always out to get something more or free... Not saying this is the case with you, but do give him a chance to fix things.. I have dealt with Dan and he does try HARD to make sure customer is happy. Now that the can of worms is open please try to return the hose and resolve this with him privately.. No need to do this unless you seriously got jacked by someone and WE ALL at 6speed would appreciate the heads up..
On that note.. I tore the driver side bottom hose and simply replaced with stock hose and the car ran really strong.. those AP hoses, all they did was look good... lol....
I feel your pain on the taking the car apart point... easy job, but man, what a pain....
