I know that guy, he did a 7:40 (!) BTG in his 996 GT3 MKI (on Michelin Cups). He believes he can improve another 5 seconds this year...

I spoke to an engineer at Toyo (Toyo and Nitto are sister companies) during last year's SEMA show and he said the R888 and NT-01 were almost identical except for the cut of the tread and available sizes. I always wondered if he was just blowing smoke. How big of a difference would you say there is between the two?

You will LOVE them indeed... I have R888's and can imagine they are very damn similar from what I have read, and now I never have traction issues unless just rolling out onto the street and hitting it in 2nd, they heat up FAST... BTW I got caught in the rain on my R888's and they weren't bad at all.

Yes, they are at the powder coater. 15 lbs lighter per rear wheel and 11 pounds lighter per front wheel. 52 lbs of total unsprung weight loss. Does anybody know how that equates to sprung weight savings?

It equates to at least 2 times that in sprung weight and maybe 3 times. I can't remember exactly, but I think it's 3 times.

R888s are one of the best "track tires" in the rain, but both Michelin Cups and Pirelli Corsa (which is my favourite) are better on track, and the corsa's works OK in the rain too.

WTF STEVO is taking? I have not often mentioned the sub 8 minute laps and I've said many times they are BTG times and he is still after me? Don't you understand the situation?

Marius, yep that is the guy, Göte told me he was very fast but we did not have specific lap time data!

About Toyo R888, I find it funny how some people here think they are the #1 street legal tire and superior to Pilot Sport Cups Maybe when wet or maybe when people have just started lapping.

(And yep I drive at the moment with R888s...Good tires but not the fastest ones)

I agree with you guy;s with the R888's.. ALTHOUGH I hated my cup's, it was the early generation of them where traction SUCKED! Newer cup tires are FAR better, R888's are awesome as an all around r comp, but I like the RA1's better.

Depends who you ask, obviously some people have better experiences with one tire then another, ah well.

Kaizu, you have a short memory my friend, I remember myself and Jean having a discussion regarding your TRULY AMAZING lap time, rember saying this: So thanks for tips if you have any experience.
With these specs and my poor driving a lap of 7.50 at Nürburgring Nordschleife BTG Touristenfahrten is possible according my PBOX data, next year will hopefully be even better

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...d.php?t=112326

Then you went onto say you could probably do a 7:48

And when Jimmer come on and mentioned he would have the upmost respect for anyone who breaks 8min, you replied Thanks Man

What a load of crap, you do 7:48, I will honestly attempt to eat a used Toyo888, I have told you before, my friend Mark Foster who virtually lives on the Ring with his PSI race car can just get under 8min
