Stage 2 was nice......but stage 4 is better Its never enough anyways, I say quit while your a head and your wallet will thank you.I think many people forget that its not going to stage 4 that costs, its the constant clutches and tires and plugs and so one and so on. I wouldn't trade it for the world...wait thats not true I would but it has to be more and I guess thats why I am working on a pretty big motor build as we speak ,modding is not only very addictive but never ever enough.Trust me quit while your ahead and stay with a stage II.

where do recommend I start

Thanks for your input. Where would you recommend I start to get more hp with reasonable costs ?

I expect you would say start with the exhaust system for the most cost effective way to increase hp ? - would you advise I swap out the entire
factory exhaust system(headers, mufflers, pipes, tips, etc.) on my all stock '03 996 turbo(non-X50 edition) ? If so, what manufacturer of performance exhaust and which system would you recommend. I ask, as it appears the most reasonably priced exhaust system is by MaxSpeed Motorsports @ $2500.

Thanks again - JIM

The easiest way to get HP is through an ECU flash. You will gain 50-70HP instantly. Several sponsors to the right--------> offer software. You can then add an exhaust for another 15-20HP, and with those 2 modifications, you will be around 500HP.

I know, I know, I'm beating a dead horse, but a K16/16g kit is the lowest $ per horsepower I know of. For under $3,500 you get approx 600 crank hp. Beat that...

I guess I have what would be considered a Stage 2, UMW flash, Europipe Stage 2 Loud. No other mods. I kept telling myself that I could hold back & be happy with 400+ hp. I must be a speed junkie (where's my fix), because I'm already looking for the next step up the horsepower ladder. There's no help for me other than BIGGER Turbos.

I am happy and plan to keep to DE and DD use....so, more may actually be bad for me (more things break with more power, and the price of that power is a lot...).

My focus now is seat time and just remembering how lucky I am to have the car....every day.

550hp/550ft lbs is not a small amount of power in my mind....

I got bored with Stage 2 after about a month. Was fun right away but quickly got used to it and the fun faded... a little. Looking at either EVOMS 610 or 660 kit now. All my research shows that the 660 kit is about the highest level you can go and reasonably maintain drivability and reliability - to an extent. Plus, I do not track the car.

I think this is very good advice for all but the true "mad power" crowd:

exhaust, ecu, dvs, filter... AND STOP.... otherwise you will end up spending 3 times more then you expected...

don't you guys think there is a middle ground between stage 2 and the "mad power" guys? It sure likes like it to me.... and I think it lies somewhere in the 600-650 range. Everything I have seen and heard from my research says it starts to get crazy expensive (all things considered) once you get to 700+ horsepower.
