I did it. No issues to date. Period. I like that. They are challenging to get in in my opinion.
My tuner sent them to me pre-adjusted for what I was doing. I have Forge's. Many are good...AP, Bailey, EVOMS, Forge's. I happen to use Forges. I am sure there are more.
I have had cars with the Bosch part fail....I did not want to repeat that stuff on a much more expensive car.... Back in the day there was a pecking order to the bosch part...Hoppen's site used to have such data. Nice to know. The last one was quite good (a race part I think). Plastic still. The alloy ones are stronger. A bling factor for sure too. The issue to me was fix once or fix thrice....the labor ended up in my mind making the more expensive option likely cheaper over time. Just my way of thinking....PM if you will.
Now, in theory, they need to be oiled I think...but I plan to do that stuff when the engine is dropped for the belt change at 60k. ...or any other reason. SO, no big deal...I may be wrong here.
Best of luck.
Anyway, find a tuner and discuss this. This is 996TT "101" stuff....everyone will likely advise you to use them. Make sure when you order them that your supplier knows the car it is going into...some won't fit if not of a certain design, etc.
I had a kid in a honda pull up to me and "swoop/snurp/woosh" with his a few times to "impress" me on a busy highway in traffic. I happened to think he was not too bright....anyway, these don't do that kind of thing....not what they are about. Just fyi at least on the Forge's. They make a slight noise, but nothing like what one hears on the street these days in JDM tuner cars.

Swap in a set of the Bosch motorsports DVs. They look OEM and they are very inexpensive.
If your worried about warranty and visually keeping things looking stock, these are the best way to go.
PM me if you need a set.

No wars. Agreed. There are a lot of tunes out there (for non-built engines..). No one has ever tested them all against each other or will likely do so on the 996TT platform. Let's be thankful that they exist!
And thankful that they figured out how to get into the ECU! That will get harder in time.... Tony gives very sound advice...the motorsports parts are what I was talking about and look identical to stock afaik. I had SAAB's and Audi's .....same part or close I think.

What year is your car? If you have a newer TT, your OEM DV will probably last a little longer after the flash. You may not need to change them right away. The diaphragm in the OEM DV will break soon or later. With the flash and higher boost, ithe life of the DVs will be shorten.
