CPO and clutch accumulator

Hello all:

I have a '02 996tt w/ 22k miles that IS UNDER CPO warranty. Clutch pedal is hard to engage when starting up. Sounded like a failing clutch accumulator, and was confirmed by dealer.

Dealer says it is NOt covered under CPO warranty. Is this correct, or they just trying to slip one past me, or in me!!??

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I am surprised to hear one is and one isn't. Curious how you know this? Has this issue happened w/ your car?

Thanks

I had a VarioCam module fail and they R+R ed the engine, stripped it down to the cams and even replaced the VC module on the other bank that had not failed while they were in there. They never *****ed or moaned so it was worth it to me.

All the dealers have a book which specifies what is covered and what is not in a CPO. I doubt that any dealer would try to slip one past you, since if it is covered Porsche pays them.

update.....They covered the clutch accumulator under CPO warranty, not because it stated it was a covered item, but as a matter of good will, according to the service manager. Good news!

Mine just went out and I ordered one from Sunset for $98....but the local Porsche dealership wouldn't go for a good will deal....so I'll have an indy do it. I was actually quite surprised that it's as inexpensive as it is....the indy charges $100 an hour so I'll get the whole thing done for about $200....not bad really.

My "Total Shield" aftermarket warranty covered this for me. I only had to pay $100 deductible.

I believe that is true. I just bought an 03 996tt recently and I had "funny clutch pedal" issue. I brought it to my local dealer here (as I still have some warranty left when I bought the car) and they said it was the Slave Cylinder. They recommended I change the accumulator also as they were in there, to save on labor as it's failure was inevitable, but it was NOT covered. That's right, the slave cylinder IS covered, but the accumulator attached to it, is NOT covered. Whatever... They told me I would have to pay for the accumulator and a $140 (1 hour) diagnosis fee. However, when I picked up my car, there was no fee. They fixed it, vaccumed it, washed it, and told me to have a nice weekend. Geez, I love owning a Porsche!!!
