Arrow TechArt Daytona 3pc Wheels - what does this writing mean?

My 996 TT has TechArt Daytonas on it

Size is 8.5x18 and 11x18

The rears are right on the edge of the arch - they rub sometimes when going over bumps

There is an etching on the outer rim that says 858bo on the from wheels and 118fp on the rears

Does anyone know what this stands for?
I didn't know if was anything to do with the offsets?

I have had those wheels, real nice and lightweight but you can't fit bigger brakes with them.

The sizes are 8.5" ET40 front and 11" ET25 rear. With 295/30/18 tires they should not rub even with a lowered suspension. What size tires do you have?

No idea about that writing though..

Kaizu - I saw the pics of your wheels, very nice I must say

It's hard to tell from your photos but I think the rear wheels might be closer to the arch than yours

Was there anywhere on the wheel that shows the offset? maybe on the back face of the wheel?

I'm running 295/30 18 tyres with stock suspension

i just removed one of the rear wheels - the offset is stamped on the back face

it is as kaizu said et25

i dont understand why my wheels appear to stick out further than those in his pictures

if i stand at teh rear of my car and line myself up with the rear wheel arch - so that the lip infront of the tyre and the lip behind the tyre line up i would say that the corner of my tyre is directly above the outer edge of the rear arch

as the profile on these tyres is not completely vertical but slightly sloped/diagonal the part of the tyre that comes into contact with the rims is most certainly sticking out past the arch

the tyres are continental soprt contact 2
does anymone know if continental make oversized tires?

but even if they do the offset on these rims is crazy

i put the figures for these wheels into a offset calculator along with the figures for the 996 gt2 wheels

the outer rims of my wheels stick out 7mm further that the gt2s
and the inner rim has 33mm more clearance!

I don't know what the letters designate, but 858 is 8.5x18 and 118 is 11x18.
You should get an alignment and a fender roll. That will most likely help your rubbing.

I was thinking about swapping to 315's or 335's at some point

But need to see whats up with either these rims or mu suspension first

What are your thoughts on 315 compared to 335?

Also, after an alignment and fender roll - would lowered suspension help or hinder?

Obviously there would be less travel available - but maybe a lower car with more negative camber would help to clear the arches??

The car is a daily drive and occasional track car
I was thinking about using the kw3's - are these good for that or are there better options?

KW's are a great suspension. Lowering the car a little with some camber should help because the wheels would go more inside.

Also rolling your fenders should be done if you have problems. Those Techarts go 20mm wider than stock Turbo rear wheels because of their offset of 25mm compared to stock 45mm.

I think they look great with a lowered car, they really flush with the fenders and the car gets an aggresive stance, at least with a new suspension.

If you want wider, go for 315/30/18. 335 wides are usually too much for the car without modifications (the IC hoses and fenders...) but they can be done. At that point those 11" wide wheels will probably be too narrow.

thanks Kaizu

i completely agree with the agressive stance - the pictures of your car look amazing!
i seriously need to lower mine and check the cambers and alignments

thanks for the advice about the tyres - 315's it is

i still can't get over the offset of these wheels
like you said they're 20mm further out than the standard turbo wheels
which means they're still 5mm further out than the standard wheels when used with spacers - and 7mm further out than standard gt2s!

i was so suprised when i removed one of the rears last night - i could not believe how light it was
