Value of 02 996TT w/ 18k miles (need to make offer)

I would be suprised if the dealer would take an offer of 58K for that car, I always figured that the dealers school of thougt is that they can find a buyer for their cars, at their price. Everyone here is correct, there are deals out there, you just have to be patient, look at, and call on lots of cars. This does take a lot of time though and sometimes in the process you can wind up passing on a car that you should have bought. For me, price was important, but even more important, I needed to know the history of the car, especially how hard it was driven and how often it received any maintanance. That is the hard part in buying from a dealer, you never get to talk to the previous owner to get a feel for what type of driving they did with the car.

MMR on the car is about $54K to $55K so they probably payed $51 to $52K for the car. I am a Dealer and I think your realistic buy is about $58K to $59K. They will not let it go for $55K. If they do, you stole it!!! Let us know!

Greenwich Porsche....not the cheapest place to buy, thats for sure. Plenty of rich folk in the area who won't think twice about paying a premium because they don't know any better.
Keep looking...that's way overpriced!

When I bought my car, I was in the midst of a busy period at work. I think I paid a fair price for a CPO'd car from a dealer, but nonetheless at that point I would probably have paid a $3-$5K premium for an easy deal on a good car.
I must just have bad luck, but I never found the great deals everyone else seemed to be finiding! As I mentioned earlier, I did find some cheap $50Kish cars, but at that point I think it's work spending some extra money on something you truly will be happy with. If you're going to keep it for several years, the potential few $Ks difference will not be a big deal.

Tell him "I made you my final deal- it was a great deal. You know where to find me- let me know if it hasn't sold in the fall- if I haven't already bought one by then we can talk".
The message is 1) winter will be coming soon, in the fall people don't buy sports cars (in CT), and 2) you are 'standing pat' and he needs to make the next move.
If you make ANY move you will have lost the negotiation. (In my opinion you already lost by offering him a great (for them) final price. It set the floor way too high, you can only go up.)
Oh, if you must buy a warranty, buy it from your own local dealer- they will appreciate the business, and their service dept will know the ins and outs of that service agreement.

NoRoom4Error-You should stand firm with your offer...it was a fair offer, and knwoing what he has in the car, he is still making a good profit. If I had bought it, you would be the new owner after an offer like you made!!
Either way, best of luck with finding you car.

How do you figure I know what the Dealer payed for the car??? MMR does show the price of the cars that are run threw "auction". If they took this car on trade there is no way I would know what they paid. Dealers do not divulge that type of info. Please elaborate.
