Not bad handling wise but for traction , and trying to put power to the ground...it felt like I was ice skating! I have ran them on my 325i before and they were really good on a car without traction issues.

I have a new set of SPTs mounted on my summer wheels, I am trying to get an idea of what level of wear to expect. Not having autoX experience, is 25 autoX days a reasonable amount of time to get out of a set of tires in your opinion? If you want sticky, why not some "R" tires?

exactly my experience. Good lateral traction but straight line, I can't get traction in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear.

1st time I got them, I had basically written the car off on a hard 1-2 shift....completely sideway at 50 mph. Across into the other lane sidewats countersteering and stability control barely saving me.

another tire to look at is the Nitto INVO. They are very soft and quiet. I have them on my 951 and they are light years ahead of the bridgestone pole positions they replaced. They are more expensive than Kumho or sumitomo

Really , I love the Nitto's I am running the NT555's right now. I was thinking of replacing them with 555 R2's or the Invo's. My fronts strangely enough are fine and the back not so fine , so I am also debating running the NT555R drag radials in the back for the summer.

Coming from the Japanese world, these tires are awesome. I would try the Hankook ventusII's as well

right now for my next tire I am going to go for INVO's if they have them in 315 when I am ready. Right now I can only get them in 295.

The lab kinda freaks when he walks by them and I'm careful not to park where a lot of folks would get a whiff. My first time around the block with stinking tires.
PS: mine didn't smell like anything but fresh rubber.

I just put the Sumi's (HTRZ3) on my C30 daily driver. So far I love them! Quiet, good handling rain and dry, and the price was cheap!

Just checked mine the other day. You have to get closer now but the dang things still stink like a barnyard. Maybe it'll keep dogs away.

I'm running the HRTZ3 too. No odor, other than normal rubber, whatsoever.

When they have my size in 19's, I'm going to get them for my 996 too. This is a great bargain. I'm really pleased so far with the performance on my little turbo volvo.
