Is the new BMW M6 really that easy to toast ?
Came across an M6 convertible on the way home, he was in front waiting for the light to change. He saw me come up behind him and I expected him to be quick off the line - he was, but he really wasn't trying as I easily passed him.
Fortunately we landed alongside each at the next set of lights, I wasn't going to play and neither was he - until he got to about 20 mph then decided to nail it.
At which I figured lets play, I was still in 2nd gear fortunately which allowed me more or less instant boost, thereafter in a few seconds by the time I hit about 75MPH he was several car lengths behind.
Still not sure if he was trying or just backed off prematurely, but he did give me the thumbs up as he past me (I had stopped in the left hand turn out lane).
I do notice the M6 V10 engine is a little down on torque compared to a TT, but surely the gearing and 500+ HP would make up for it ? Unless it's the weight issue.

I had a very similar experience with an M6 cabriolet a few months back. After watching those runway videos put up by M5board.com, I was expecting it to be a close race, but I left him for dead. It was such a blowout I was wondering if he was a poseur in a rebadged 645i until he caught up with me in traffic.

dont know about the m6 vert
but ill put money on the table that an m6 coupe smg will beat a k16 turbo
any takers ?
not from 20-30
a race from 60-160
m6 will be several car lengths ahead of a k16 turbo
when i raced an m6, i was a few car lengths ahead...
and im a bit quicker than a k16 car

you guys are comparing apples to oranges. line up a stock m6 vert against a stock 996TT vert.
also, he probably let off or wasn't in it all the way. to put 3 cars on any performance car from 20mph to 75mph is pretty difficult.

I got it on with an M6 on the highway early last week. We did a few runs starting from highway speeds. I also figured that it would be very close based on all the talk on the chat boards. It wasn't close at all. Each time I got such a big lead that I also thought he must be taking it easy. I was able to tell by the look on his face and his big thumbs up that he was as impressed with my car as I was. The only engine mods I have is an FVD flash and FVD exhaust.

I will run with a m6 in my turbo s cab with fvd chip and speed tech exhaust anytime. Friendly, I'm curious to see how they run.

About a month ago, my cab was in limp mode after a battery problem (didn't know at that time). With dropping boost down to .9 on every shift (Tip). I still beat a new M6 coupe, but not by much.

M6's arent great below 100, it's like the anti 996TT which is great below 100, but after 100 it will walk a 996 TT (stock) pretty hard.
And you never know with M's if they had time to switch the car to P500 mode, because if they dont you are racing a 400 hp M6, not 500, and the large majority of owners arent enthusiastic enough to program the system so that they can just hit the M button and go, and if the dealer did it for them, they probably forgot what it does.
Stock for stock on a K16 TT, the M6 will pwn it.
